Windows

We are considering new windows for the house. Anyone have any ideas for replacement windows, or an experience to share? We have received a few quotes, but are still fairly clueless.

And advice is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Wow. all i know they are not cheap. pella is a good brand of window. We have them and they have a ten year warranty. also get the one that not only open but pull out for cleaning, I don't know what that is called. We like our window.

Pella makes very good windows. If you order the proper sized windows its really a relatively minor operation.

Careful! Some of these guys can be ruthless! I'm not sure if you can get them there, but Harvey Industries makes the best windows. Andersons are next.(Last I knew, Anderson didn't make replacement windows though. Just standard sizes) If you need to look elsewhere, for vinyl make sure you get welded sashes with aluminum reinforcements, and Argon (Krypton if you can get it) filled 5/8" low-E glass. Aluminum clad wood windows are the best, but pricey. Just so you know what the dealer PAYS for these, the average cost for a vinyl window is $220 and the Aluminum-clad wood is $270. (and those are GOOD windows)

Hope this helps! PM me if you have questions.
