Time for new bulbs...?

Time to get new bulbs. I've had these for a year now. I've got a horrible algae problem, and I was thinking lights could be the problem. I'd like more blue, but when I got these from Jim they had BlueLine 14Ks, and it seemed too blue/dim. I got XM 10K's. Does anyone else have 150W lights, other than XMs that are more blue, but still bright? I want to keep everything happy. I'm thinking 12Ks might be more like i want. If anyone else has different colors, let me know if I can come see your tank. I'll have the next lights for a year, I want to enjoy them.

Actually with a 125g and only 175w I would stay at 10K and XM have about the most PAR unless you want to spend $100+ for Ushio or Radium.

I think a 125g is 24" deep right? with 175w you really won't
get enough light deep in the tank if you go above 10K

You could add some more atinic if you want more "blue"

EDIT: I saw you have HQI they do put out a bit more PAR so a 12 or 14K may be an option...

I have a 150w Phoenix 14k HQI. That is a very popular bulb, & is supposed to have good par compared to others.
You are welcome to check mine out anytime.
Mine is on an electronic ballast.

Mine is 150W not 175, but is HQI, so I don't know how that figures. I have actinics, but only 72W. Mine is a magnetic ballast. I might try to come over sometime and see your lights, Todd. I have your number, so I'll let you know.
