Descent Wave Maker
| Installation and Operation |
Easy to hook up and use. Just need to read the configurations and set the one that suits you. The WaveMaster Pro uses a microprocessor to create a random or turbulent flow rate by turning on and off up to 4 powerheads. It has a gentle, rolling, turbulent or alternating wave motion settings. Also has a dedicated main pump option. Also has a night program to simulate the calmness of the night ocean for up to 8 hours. It has 2 feeding modes for either Reef or Marine settings.

| Performance vs. Expectations |
Performs as advertised. Of course with almost all powerheads startup will be noisy with the powerheads clanking for a bit as they turn on and off. Very annoying. One of my phases failed in about a 1 1/2 years of use.I have heard of this from others as well. Just added 2 of the new Hydor Korolia Evolutions and the noisy powerhead problem is solved.

Kind of expensive. I think it would be good for the beginner reefer.

Powers 4 powerheads. This many at once really helps with dead spots.

Clanking powerheads and of course the failure of 1 of the phases. (use the Evolution Poswerheads)

One of the 4 power heads quite working after about 5 months. I replaced the power head to find out it was the Wavemaker which was at fault. Called customer service told them my tale and was told that without a receipt they could do nothing. I was told that the lady who could help me was on vacation and I was given her voice mail. I have heard nothing from Red Sea at this point.

Installation was easy, programming it is a nightmare. I have looked all over the Internet and cannot find a "trouble shooting" help.

Good product
| General |
This is a nice, simple little device for generating some random flow in smaller tanks ... say 75 gallons or less. It can accomidate four powerheads for random flow or three powerheads with the fourth outlet able to be designated for the main system pump if you desire. I used this on my 58 gallon Oceanic tank for 3 years using three MJ 1200 powerheads and had good results generating random flow patterns. |
