Decent but buyer beware
| Installation and Operation |
Very easy to install the controllable powerheads, and the connections are very well engineered. The instructions could be a little more involved, as it took a bit to figure out. Just make sure the unit is not around an area that salt creep may come after it. I see this becoming a problem. I nice flat dry surface for the unit is recommended.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
Very well built and solid. It creates a basic wave current, as it advertises a
"basic" wavemaker. What you are buying here is quality and precision. The high price tag DOES NOT mean it has a ton of features.
|
| Value for money |
I think it is a very expensive item for what it actually does. There are other units out there that are less expensive, and can use any powerhead that uses a standard wall plug instead of just the propriatary powerheads you must use with this unit, but I do not regret paying the extra for the fine quality of this product.

| Customer Support |
I haven't had a chance to deal with the company directly, but will be soon to ask some more questions about the functions behind the unit

| Liked about it |
I love the looks, and the LED display. I like the overall quality and design. And I was impressed by the precision of flow I was able to obtain.
|
| Didn't like |
I didn't like the fact that you can't use other devices other than the propriatary Hydor Koralia controllable powerheads. I didn't like the high price tag for what seems to be a pretty basic piece of hardware. And I don't like that it isn't a little more user friendly as far as just figuring out the features.

Not what I was expecting
| Installation and Operation |
Install is easy as pie... plug and play with some fine adjustments with flow and timing
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
The power heads perform great just like any Koralia I have has in the past.. it does not make the wave effects as advertised, but does help in flow rather then having a constant stream/flow all the time
|
| Value for money |
Product is well made... not cheap feeling
|
| Liked about it |
My fish like the movement in the water now... they seem to swim around more. The light sensor is a must... the feeding option is great too places the power heads on min flow for a short amount of time
|
| Didn't like |
Not the wave effect I was expecting
The controller does make noise
Generates more heat then expected

Hydor Koralia Wavemaker Basic
| Installation and Operation |
Easy to install. It's a plug and play unit. This unit is for two Koralia Controllable Pumps of any size. Has custom controls for a variety of water motion. Alternating flow mode, synchronous flow mode and a feeding mode. 1 red and 2 blue LED lights illuminate according to the operation selected. Cooling fan adjusts automatically as needed. Also has an (optional) night mode photo sensor that senses the amount of light in the tank and turns pumps to minimum flow to simulate the night ocean.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
Performs as expected. I use the alternating mode. Gives my corals a waving effect. The food mode is convenient as well. Slows the flow to minimum for five minutes for feeding and then restarts. Very sensitive dials. Gives you just right increments of power and time that you control each powerhead.
|
| Value for money |
Expensive but to me it was worth it. A high quality product.

never needed
|
| Liked about it |
The ease of the controls. The two different modes are handy to have. Each tank and needs are different. I liked the (optional) night photo sensor alot. Gives the inhabitants a more natural feel at night.

| Didn't like |
Only the cost. It pays you back with a happy reef tank.
