Great Idea, just does not live up to the billing.

I replaced my Aquaclear powerheads with two of these units and the documented flowrates were similar. The Zoo med had much less flow and created less aeration. The air tube / valve is very touchy. The sweep design is a great idea but both of my pumps stopped sweeping within the first 3-6 months. you have to consistanly take them apart and use loose half of the flow out of the sides of the unit once you start taking it apart. When you remove it from the mounting bracket it seems like it would snap but it never did. My units lasted about 1 1/2 - 2 years. I purchased them when they just came out. I hope that the problems have been fixed but there are much better solutions for the money. if the sweep function worked in a consistant manner as advertised and the unit produced more flow, I would definetly purchase again. I was very disappointed with both units. |

the sweeper would jam all the time
did not like the sponge pre filter tryed to run it with out it and lost a pigmy angle that got sucked in.
adds alot of extra heat to the tank
