great pump for all kinds of uses featured

Installation and Operation I have mountains of maxijet pumps that I've collected throughout the years. I have used the 600 model for multiple applications, including simple water flow in the display, as a base for performing modifications for higher flow output, and to supply water to various filters or media chambers. These are easy to install and shouldnt give you any trouble in operation. The one issue I've run across is the life of the suction cups, so be careful if you're using those exclusively for mounting.

Performance vs. Expectations These pumps meet my expectations. I have been using them for years without any issue. They have a good life and should operate for years down the road. They are very simple devices that don't have a lot of wear, so you shouldnt have any problems with them.

Value for money These are rather cheap, so I consider them to be a good value. At usually under $20, you'd be hard pressed to find any pump for less money, especially one that works this well. These are a good investment.

Liked about it These are robust pumps that can last for years with a little routine maintenance (I would clean them every 6 months in a water/vinegar solution to remove any calcium deposits or algae growth that may stop them up). These are cheap and readily available. They have countless uses, I like to have them handy for mixing water at the least. They work well, and for the price they really can't be beat.

Didn't like If used for flow, the one thing I don't like about these pumps is that they rely on suction cups as the primary mounting feature. In my experience, these suction cups will deteriorate over time and you'll come home to see your power head sitting in the sand. If you use the suction cup, clip the power cord in place on the edge of the tank to provide some redundancy to help avoid these types of failures.

Powerful Punch Powerhead featured

Installation and Operation These power heads are very very easy to install and to clean. A major plus when running it in your reef. They aren't going to give you the dispersed flow, but I use mine for a feed pump for my skimmer. It has been running strong ever since I bought it, and it hasn't slowed down at all. There are plenty of mods on the market for this to work even better than it does, which makes it very very versatile.

Performance vs. Expectations Exceeds expectations, it pushes a lot of water in a little space and is reliable. The instructions are pretty straightforward and easy to read. It comes with several different ways to mount is another big plus. The suction cups are soft enough to rid any vibration transfered to the glass, completly ridding any audible hum that you might expect.

Value for money For the price you can't beat it. Everyone should have at least one in there collection of reef gear in case of an emergency. The low power consumption and decent flow provide a great amount of benefit to several applications. You can mix small amounts of water, feed skimmers, use it as a powerhead, or modify it to be a strong power head.

Customer Support I broke my supports by over wrenching on them, emailed the company and they sent me a new set for free, I just paid the cost of shipping which is completly fair! Great product support.

Liked about it Powerful
Reliable
a lot of uses
compact

Didn't like Hard to put a hose on the output, its a very very tight fitting. A hose barb attachment would be nice to see added to the parts bag..

a very good small pump

Installation and Operation Easy to install, brush it off every month or so.

Performance vs. Expectations works great on a wavemaker, quiet.

Value for money great value, unlike the rio pumps, they can be referred to as a rio P.O.S. in reference to a rio 800

Customer Support Have had all these pumps for up to 15 yrs.probably 10 of them, teya all still work. the only problem i ever had was with the impeller magnet, called the company and they sent me free replacements.

Liked about it Quiet,value,customer service.

Didn't like the only thing i could say negative about these pumps is the housing around the impeller wears and will no stay directed. I only have one that is this way.

MJ600 Review

General Can have a mod kit installed on them to increase the flow and to spread it out. In factory form, its a very direct flow that is better suited as a feed pump for skimmers/reactors than for water movement in the tank without the mod kits.

Liked about it For what they are, they work great. If you want something in a smaller tank that isn't going to blast the tank to pieces, this is a good choice. Very dependable pumps

Didn't like High energy usage although they are dependable pumps
