Great utility pump
| Installation and Operation |
Instillation for all pan world pumps is simple they are ready to run right out of the box.
For operation I could not be happier! They are workhorses. I have many MAG pumps and when I was looking for a small utility pump mainly for water changes It did not take me long to choose MAD again. The Mag 5 is a 500 gph pump perfect for water changes. and for mixing and maintaining new salt mix.

| Performance vs. Expectations |
I could not be happier with these pump. The are super quiet. They consume little wattage and just run forever. They require little to no maintenance although I do suggest cleaning from time to time.

| Value for money |
One of the best bang for you buck pumps. At about $70 you cannot go wrong. This is a great little pump and the ability to run them either submerged or external is great. I high recommend any MAG pump.
|
| Customer Support |
I never had any need for customer support with these pumps.

| Liked about it |
I really liked the fact that these pumps just run forever. They a quiet as well as compact. They are cheap to buy and running them will not break the bank either.

| Didn't like |
There really was not anything I can think of that I dislikes about these pumps.

nice return pump for smaller systems
| Installation and Operation |
I've used this pump for a couple different scenarios. I originally bought it for use on a AquaC EV120 skimmer, but I found it was under-powered for that application. I did use it as a return on my 58 gallon tank, and it worked well in that application. I didnt have a lot of head pressure on that setup, though, and I would consider that to be about a minimum amount of flow by the time it was all set up.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
Performs spot on compared to my expectations, the flow rate is well advertised compared to head loss by danner. I never had an issue with this pump turning on or shutting down inadvertently. While I havent had it in constant operation for over 2 years, I do still have it on hand and it works well every time I need it.
|
| Value for money |
This is a pretty good value in my experience. For a quality product that allows a lot of different plumbing options, as well as a 3 year warranty, it's hard to complain about the costs associated with running or purchasing it.
|
| Customer Support |
I have dealt with danner on a few occasions, and each time they were quick to response. For this pump, I had experienced a bit of rusting on the stainless steel screws, and they sent new screws out no question asked. This pump has been a great product for the years that I've owned it.
|
| Liked about it |
In my application I thought it had great output, I enjoyed the relatively low power consumption, and was dead silent. I never heard it in operation and could only tell it was running by the water movement coming out of the return.
|
| Didn't like |
I don't have anything negative to say about this product, though as with all the mag drive pumps, they don't always work leak-free in external applications. Sometimes they are advertised as internal/external use, but they don't always prove to be the best choice for the latter application.

Excellent little pump
| Installation and Operation |
This little pump is simple to install and works well. The instructions that came with it were more than adequate to explain operation and maintenance. It doesn't require much to maintain and is very simple to use.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
It performs exactly as advertised. I found the flow at the head height I have to be exactly what I had estimated from the products chart before purchasing.
|
| Value for money |
For the price the Mag 5 is excellent. It functions well, runs fairly cool and doesn't cause an unbearable amount of vibration for the amount of water it's pushing.
|
| Customer Support |
I haven't delt with the company but the pumps are great.

| Liked about it |
Connected easily to a threaded 1/2" PVC union I then plumbed to the rest of the system
* runs very efficiently
* doesn't make a ton of noise. The fan in my light unit is louder than this pump.

| Didn't like |
It has metal screws on the face. I'm not a huge fan of that but from what I've heard they tend not to rust and don't cause any problems in the tank.
