Not bad for the cost featured

Installation and Operation Installation was relatively simple. I glanced at the instructions, which seemed very complete, but never really read them as the parts and the unit itself was self explanatory to anyone who has dealt with water pumps before. The only issue I had was that I couldn't ever get the plate covering the impeller off... So far this hasn't been a problem, since I was using it submerged so I didn't have to put the threaded plate attachment on, and I haven't had to service the unit yet. The open plate which it came with installed allows a view of the impeller so I can see whether it needs servicing without having to remove the plate. Keep in mind, when I do need to service the unit, I am sure that getting that plate off is going to be a real pain. The pump also comes with 4 rubber feet, which were easy to install.

Performance vs. Expectations The way my returns are setup, I am unable to measure the precise throughput in my system @ 3'8" head. I did connect it to vinyl tubing and tried to simulate what my head pressure would be, and it was putting out just under 600gph, which is about what I was expecting. Seeing the flow from the returns in my tank, I would say that's about right.

Value for money I got a really good deal on this pump, so it was certainly a good value. Checking a few online retailers, it's certainly one of the less expensive pressure rated pumps available, which puts it in line with what I would expect value wise. It's certainly a budget pump, but as far as budget goes, I am quite satisfied.

Customer Support I have not needed to contact the company.

Liked about it The price would have to be the #1 thing I liked. It's also fairly small, which is handy if you don't have a lot of space in your sump. I have turned it off and on for various reasons at least 50 times, and it has always started up flawlessly each time. From reading many other reviews on this, that was my #1 concern, and I was happy that I don't have any reverse start problems.
The unit is very quiet compared to other pumps I have experience with (little giants mostly), however there were a few things I had to do to get it quiet, which I will outline in the don't like section.

Didn't like My biggest complaint with this unit is that though it is quiet, it actually vibrates quite a bit. The little rubber feet it comes with do little to help this, mostly they just transfer the vibration up the return pipe. I had expected it to come with suction cup foot attachments along with the normal rubber feet, but it doesn't. Suction cup feet, I suspect, would remove the vibration issue when used submerged and leave this pump very quiet. To remove the vibration I simply took a piece of rock and set it on top of the pump, and the thing is very quiet.
My only other complaint is that the plate over the impeller seems nearly impossible to get off. Since I didn't need to use one of the other plates with threaded adapters, and you can see the impeller though the plate it comes installed with, I just didn't bother. I know when I do end up needing to service it that it's going to be a real pain to get off.

Often overlooked, but a good pump

Installation and Operation Standard sub pump, does have 1" threaded connections.

Performance vs. Expectations Advertised as 1017gph at 0' head, this is a bit misleading. It is not a high pressure pump, count on losing half the head in a 3-4' lift to your aquarium. These pumps get highly mixed reviews as far as noise level and restart ability, I've had NO problems with noise or restarts.

Value for money Compare it to a Danner Mag-Drive 7, it's not built as heavily as the Danner, but it's an economical alternative.

Customer Support No experience with cust. support (a good thing?)

Liked about it This pump is often available on sale from internet stores, it's not terribly uncommon to find one for about $50 brand new, so the price is right.

It has been a very quiet pump for me.

The power draw is fantastic, at just under 50 watts draw, taken by a kill-a-watt device.

Didn't like My only complaint is the excessive head loss, but it's an even trade between pump pressure and amperage draw, so I'm not sore about it.

More than I needed

Installation and Operation It's a pump, just plugs and play ;) didn't even look at the instruction so didn't know how it is.

Performance vs. Expectations Performing well, didn't know how strong is 1017gph until i got this pump

Value for money A good buy, not saying it's cheap but worth it. I needed 2 return pumps for my tank, now i only need 1.

Customer Support Nope.

Liked about it Strong performance, well built
The name speaks for itself, a Quite One
Can be used for many different applications

Didn't like So far have not had any problem

Great for the Price!

General Very fair for the price! Highly reccomended..

Liked about it I like how its small and compact. Although it is only 1017 gph, it handles my 90 gallon system just fine!

Didn't like I have no complaints at all!
