One of the most robust and reliable pumps out there featured

Installation and Operation Easy to install and comes with various size pipe attachments. The parts and main body of the pump are made of quality and robust plastics. Comes with clear and easy to understand instructions. Having used eheim pumps in the past I know how little maintenance and cleaning they require. In any event I've taken the pump apart a fee times and gave it a good clean.

Performance vs. Expectations Performance is as specified and there isn't really much more to say about this. I did measure the power usage and it measured 36 watts as opposed to the advertised 28 watts. But bear in mind that my Atman skimmer pump is rated at 28 watts and is actually using 46 watts. I expected the pump to impart some significant heat into the aquarium water but this is not the case the pump also runs silent. I needed something to run the heart of my aquarium and it serves that role very well.

Value for money These pumps are a bit more pricey but I paid for it because of it's known reliability and an expected high quality product. These pumps will last for years and so when you consider longevity - they are very value for money. In my opinion the standard of reliability is priceless in these pumps.

Customer Support Never had a need, so cannot comment here.

Liked about it Quality. Performance. Reliability. Need I say more about a pump?

Didn't like Measured power usage was slightly higher than advertised.

Awesome Pump

Installation and Operation Easy to install. Hose barbs seem to be metric though -- holding standard hoses a little loose. A hose clamp solves this though. I'm using this for a calcium reactor circulation pump. It's been running solid, with minor interruptions, for close to two and a half years. The higher acidity of the calcium reactor setting doesn't allow any calcium buildup on the impeller, meaning I have absolutely no maintenance to perform for reliable operation.

Performance vs. Expectations Meets expectation. Silent operation.

Value for money Higher priced; but well worth it in terms of build quality and reliability.

Liked about it Quiet.
Low wattage/low operational costs.
Small size, fits great in my application.

Didn't like Metric/undersized hose barbs.
The impeller cover can come off pretty easily if too much stress is applied.
Have yet to run into a third issue.

Sometimes paying a little more is worth it

Installation and Operation As mentioned, plug and play. Comes with barb fittings for most hose sizes needed for the pump size.

Performance vs. Expectations Silent. I do notice a small amount of heat added to the water column but when compared with other pumps in the same category, the amount is very small. I have owned three of these and over a period of four years, none have needed to be replaced. There is a reason these pumps are used in OEM applications such as skimmers and calcium reactors: they just work.

Value for money Eheim pumps are not the least expensive pumps but when you chart the cost/benefit ratio over an extended time, it costs more to replace a cheaper pump than to pay a little more up front. If you consider possible down-time while removing an old, cheaper pump, time to purchase a new pump and install it, just pay a little more upfront and forget it. You can do that with Eheim as I have found.

Customer Support No dealings with customer support. It's good to say that.

Liked about it Performs as expected. Long-lasting. Well designed. Silent.

Didn't like Um, the picture on the box. No, really, I have not been disappointed, so NA.

Best for the money!

Installation and Operation As they say you just plug and play! It has barb fittings for most hose sizes and you don't even here it running. Its so silent that some times I even check it to make sure its working. This Eheim Hobby Pump pumps the water through my chiller and UV sterilizer with no problem. I will be buying a other one for my next tank!
