Great pump - Great Price
| Installation and Operation |
Very easy to plumb into existing plumbing. I am using the 9.5 currently as a return pump in my new setup. Same one that I used on my first tank - 4 years ago. Just soaked it in vinegar, cleaned up really nice and just plumbed it in. Worked the first time it was plugged in after all this time.

Performs like it was new, nothing worn, the ceramic shaft showed no wear marks, same impeller.

These pumps come threaded and easy to plumb into your system. Easy to take apart and clean, parts are everywhere.

Runs a little warm but not hot, the outlet could be spaced a little further from the main body for a PVC fitting to screw on without having to grind the PVC fitting down to clear.

Mag Drive 9.5 pump - Stellar unit

I have a 75 Gallon BowFront tank with an Oceanic Reef Sump 1. I was using a Mag Drive 7 pump for return flow for about 2 1/2 years and I just was not happy with the flow output / Current in the tank. After much debate I upgraded to the Mag 9.5 and the difference's between the two are night and day. My current seems like it has doubled, my tank has never looked so clear, matter of fact I had to turn down the ball valve because my sump coud not handle the down flow thru my pre-filter chamber. The unit is quiter than the 7 and nearly the same size footprint except for the very large pre-filter; 2-3 larger than the 7 but it has to be with the large flow. I am extremely happy with this unit and I consider it my best aquatic purchase to date. As with any pump, Monthly maintenance is involved and 20 minutes now will save you money down the road. |
