Good Powerhead
| Installation and Operation |
Very easy to install. Professional level instructions.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
Performs very well, and gets the job done. Pretty good flow. Built very well, durable, etc. Replacement parts available, but not really needed often (I've never had to replace parts). I've had issues getting air into the stream at times. The air hose has to be installed just right. Also, if the pump sits low, air will not suck into the water stream, and will actually shoot water out the air line. It will work for running a skimmer, but it's more of a pain, so I wouldn't recommend it for that use. Best for just moving water.

| Value for money |
There are lots of other cheaper powerheads out there, however, I don't know anything about their reliability so don't know how to compare. I do know that Aquaclear has a pretty solid product, and you really can't go wrong. Just don't expect it to do what it wasn't built for.

Never had to deal with them, but I can only assume that it would be a good experience.

Like being able to add air

Air line is difficult to get working correctly at times
Water can flow out the air line
Other than that, not much to complain about

Built like a tank
| General |
I used two of these units with an undergravel on a standard 75g SWT and each one lasted for over 13 years. I liked the easy adjustments that you can make and that the lower body is configurable. I had a problem of the unit acutally pulling up cushed coral from between the undergravel filter plates. The unit gave me plenty of current and worked well with my canister filetr set-up. My main problem was that after a while I just had to sit them un top of the riser tubes because the mounting system did not last, not the best design. The units have not changed much over the last 15 years but it is a work hose. the newer Koralia units are a better solution for current and have a superior mounting system but this little guy worked his tail off for me. For a beginer this is a great product. |

Dependable,..
| General |
Overall, I like their durability, they are built like a tank. I just do not like the price of them when you can get far more water movement out of a Hydor Koralia or Seio for around the same cost. The mounting bracket is nice idea, but it is very flimsy and allows the pump to sag and vibrate against the side of the aquarium. |
| Liked about it |
Dependable, heavy duty construction. Made to last forever.
|
| Didn't like |
The mounting bracket is flimsy and allows the pump to vibrate against the glass. Price, higher flowing powerheads available for the money as well as equal flowing powerheads available for alot less. Power consumption.

Works for many applications
| Installation and Operation |
I used this pump to run a FSB style home made phos reactor with GFO. I liked using it because you could adjust the flow and prevent the GFO from rubbing against it self.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
Clean off the flow adjusting plate because calcium and other things will build up and prevent it from moving.

Variable flow.
