UG filter or mixing pump

It is a good solid pump for some uses but there are less and less people using undergravel filters. For a reef tank you can get a better powerhead for the money with diffuse flow. |

They are generally very durable. Reverse feature is useful if your run a UGF or RUGF but few people still do. Still useful in a salt mixing bucket or rock cooking tub.

shaft became unbalanced and the plastic impeller was damaged and needed replaced, granted after about 5 years of use.
Concentrated flow makes it a poor choice for a reef tank. Mounting bracket seems to always have the powerhead pointing down.
