Fantastic

The instructions on how to set these pumps up are very easy to understand and they are rather simple to setup anyways. If by some chance, further instruction is needed, EcoTech has a great video gallery on their website, detailing setup and operation of these pumps.

One word...Fantastic! All of the modes offer different flow patterns and seem to be good for creating the proper flow for corals in a reef setting. The adjustability of each mode is also a nice feature, and I love being able to program my own wave for the "Short Pulse Mode" and "Nutrient Transport Mode." The only thing I don't like is that I can't set the minimum speed in between the pulses, although I'm sure that if used with an Apex or other controller that probably is an option. I've seen other reviews that complain about the noise level, but honestly I can't hear mine at all. The fans and pumps in my RedSea Max are louder than the pump motor.
The pump and the driver both seem to be very durable and well-built. My only complaint with material quality is the foam cover. These seem to be a little weak and mine tore easily, though only at the seams, which was easy to repair with a needle and some black thread. I also think that the controller would be easier to mount using screws or magnets, but the Velcro does work well. Personally, I just don't like Velcro to begin with, so it probably wouldn't be a problem to most people.

| Value for money |
I Think this is where a lot of people get hung up. While I did spend $285 ($300 with tax) for this pump I feel that it was well worth it. The performance I get from the pump and the fact that there is absolutely no heat transfer into my tank are definitely worth the hefty price.

So far I have not had any problems with this pump. I also have found the video tutorials on EcoTech's website are very informative and helpful for setup and would be for troubleshooting.

It is very easy to install, you will just need to make sure that the powerhead(in tank) and the motor(outside) are line up in the right way, so it will run nicely.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
This is not your regular powerhead!! This device has its own "mind", it has several mode, Tidal Swell, Nutrient Transport, Radom, Short Plise and long Pulse mode, you can setup the mode that you like. Not only that, you can setup slave pumps to sync. It will create natual wave ....and it is pretty small considering what it can do.

| Value for money |
Although it is a such awsome device to have, I found it on the pricy side, if you want to invest in a waver maker, this is the one.

never had one.
|
| Liked about it |
1. it can create different waves
2. you can adjust how strong the wave.
3. it is pretty small in the tank, the motor is kind of big, but the motor is outside
4. different color led indicates different mode
|
| Didn't like |
1. pricy
2. kind of making noise when the motor is on, I guess it is because the motor is outside of the tank
3. it would be great if it can setup to change the modes

One of the better investments I've made.
| Installation and Operation |
Installation is pretty straight forward with this pump. Everything needed to set up the pump is included, even for thinner aquarium walls.

| Performance vs. Expectations |
Fantastic performance with this pump. I have had no issues with operation or the quality.
|
| Value for money |
Little bit on the expensive side but worth every penny. Quality products are not cheap, and you get what you pay for.
|
| Customer Support |
I did not need to contact customer service. Have gone without issue no for quite some time.

I think they took into account the diversity of aquariums. They added a very long power cord to the controller for ease of access. Controller has many different modes and with each mode you can customize flow rate to get good random current, or just good movement. Good quality construction on this pump.

I would say there is only one thing that seemed to be a bummer (only for the first couple weeks) being the noise. Its not too obnoxious but you can tell for the first couple weeks of operation that it is there.
