The best period! featured

Installation and Operation It takes a bit to figure out how to set everything up with the controller and there isn't really much rhyme or reason to it or all of the whacky colors, a simple LCD screen would be a huge upgrade. That being said it does work... although going into feed modes and such is a bit of a pain (I can't do it one handed.)

Performance vs. Expectations WOW the performance is insane and more than makes up for the silly controller. Works amazingly well... way better than anything else on the market.

Value for money More than worth the money one of my MP40's outperforms 2-3 Tunze power-heads with ease. Everything considered it's a cheaper option than some of the other products on the market

Customer Support I have talked to two different guys there, one guy was awesome the other called me an a**hole (literally) ((in his defense I can be one sometimes)) But seriously the one guy was way out of line, he was very young and didn't like working with customers at all, he told me that wasn't why he was hired. So I'm on the fence but I got the other guys name and will ask for the nice when if I ever have to call back.

Liked about it Performance
Small Footprint in Tank
Plenty of Wiring Length

Didn't like Cheesy controller that looks like my daughters remote controls for her toys.
Controller functions.
Can't be used if you are colorblind

Worth the money featured

Installation and Operation easy to install just read the directions very carefully...at time the directions and interface with the controller are a little confusing.

Performance vs. Expectations Performance is phenomenal!!! I ran just the single MP40w for a couple of months and had plenty of water movement in my 75gal.

Value for money This is an expensive power head but is worth it in my opinion.

Customer Support Called a couple of times with questions and the staff were very helpful, courteous, and patient.

Liked about it Water flow/movement is awesome. Clean looking install, motor on the outside(no excess heat in tank), takes up minimal space in side the tank (wetside). Easy to use controller with several different modes of operation depending on what type of flow you are looking for (reef, lagoonal, nutrient transport, feed mode, night mode, short pulse). You can make a frickin wave with just one of these pumps. The MP40w was so good that I bought a MP10w to go with it. Now the back and forth water motion mimicks what you would see on an actual reef.

Didn't like You spend hundreds of dollars and they don't include a full printed product manual (pretty weak). The pump comes with a foam wet-side sleeve that prevents things from being sucked into the propeller. There is no explination as to what it was for (even in the full product manual). I realized what the sleeve was when my 5 hour old anemonie was sucked in to it and did not survive.

(EDITORIAL)Simply the best powerhead I have ever used! featured

Installation and Operation When I first received my 2 MP40w-ES pumps I assumed they were like any other pumps. Just simply plug and play out of the box. They turned out to not be so simple and did require me reading the manual for proper instillation. The main issue I had was with the pin spacer. The instructions said to set the pin spacer to match the thickness of glass on my tank. The only problem was that the instructions did not tell me what and where the pin spacer was. Only by accident did I find that it was the rubber cover on the driver motor. Beyond that, the initial install was a piece of cake. If you only have one pump at this point you are finished installing and you simply select your desired mode. If you have more than one as I do at this point your will want to wireless sync the power heads. Why? the benefit to having them synced allows you to only need access to one controller to change setting, feed and sleep modes. It also tells the master controller the location of all the pumps and changes the flow patterns based on the location of the pump. This is great and allows for maximum efficiency of the pumps and the current they create. Syncing more then one pump wireless is not hard at all. Simply follow the instruction in the manual.

Once I got them installed, I was blown away! I had a lot of flow before and did not expect to see much debris when I fired them up. I turned them on and WOW so much junk was stirred up. I am skimming so much more and the tank is much cleaner!

The quick start manual included with the pump is great for referencing modes and other option but for the initial install I had to go to EcoTech's website and download the full manual. I do wonder why at the cost of these pumps the full manual was not included.

The EcoSmart Controller is great - so simple, compact, and looks great. Having 2 pumps synced it is nice to only have to change settings on one controller.

The mounts and zip ties included also make for very clean instillation.

As far as operation I have extremely pleased with the overall flow of these pumps.

With only 1/2 of the pump in the water they take up far less space then conventional pumps. The only draw back to that is that the driver is on the outside of the tank. It can be on the noisy side especially if running in a short pulse.

These pumps move a lot of water and I found that I had to keep SPS for at least 12' from the front of the pump. The flow is wide but in the center it is very direct and too much fro any coral to handle.

Overall a beautiful pump with tons of flow and a superb design

Performance vs. Expectations I received these pumps with extremely high expectations. They had been out for a while and have heard nothing but great things. Their price is high yes - but when you consider what you are paying for it is very much worth the price-tag.

I was thoroughly impressed with this products and would have to say they completely meet and exceeded all my expectations.

Value for money When you get in to high end products such as EcoTech pumps Value for money is subjective.
I do think they are a great product and well worth the MSRP. Remember you get what you pay for. These are well engineered and manufactured products that I can only assume will run for many many years.

Customer Support I did contact support for a simple issue I was having and have to say I was impressed. I got I live person immediately and he actually seemed concerned and was very efficient in helping me resolve my issue.

Liked about it The size! for the rate of flow this pumps takes up far less space than any other.
WIRELESS!! AWESOME! multiple pumps and only only control to deal with. GENIUS!
ECOSMART Mods. I thought I had flow in my tank before. these modes really stir up debris and I have a much cleaner tank.

Didn't like The noise while in short pulse mode. There is a bit of a whine in the motor. but I can deal with it.
