very handy portable thermometer
| Comments |
These types of thermometers are pretty slick. I don't have this exact device, but I have one that is very similar. Being able to measure temperatures of all devices can be really telling, especially things like ballasts, external pumps, light fixtures, and other electronics. Knowing where to aim cool air can greatly increase the ability to control overall thermal issues in the tank.

This item is very easy to use. Simply point it at the area that you want to measure and pull the trigger. The temperature is immediately displayed on the thermometer and will give you a real time reading as you move the thermometer around. It's simple and a breeze to use. It's very portable and can be used for other things around the house, as well, though I do find myself keeping it in the hobby room to measure various aspects of the tank.

This particular unit is pretty steep, I've seen similar products for about a third the price. Otherwise, I really don't have any complaints. This is terribly handy and I find myself looking for mine at least twice a week. If you're into a data driven system, I'd seriously consider one of these thermometers.

Point and shoot!

After having cheaper, smaller IR thermometers that continued to fail, this one has been wonderful.

It has a distance to width ratio of 8:1. So if you are 8 feet away it will measure the temp in a 1 foot diameter.
You can turn the laser on or off depending on if you need guidance of where you are aiming.
I like the 1/10 degree accuracy.
You can take the temperature of almost anything including your lights, pumps, tanks and electrical equipment!

A bit larger than the cheaper ones, but you can not lose it as easily.
As always, when dealing with lasers, do not shoot them in people's eyes!
