HM Digital Waterproof pH Meter
Installation and Operation
HM Digital Waterproof pH Meter is a simple tool to use and operate. The instruction were clear, and easy to follow. The HM PH Meter has three buttons to operate on/off, temp/Calibrate, and hold. To use the item all one has to do is dip the sensor in saltwater up to the first yellow band and press on. The digital screen is nicely lit and easy to read. It displays the PH and current temperature. The HM PH monitor allows you to automatically or manually calibrate the unit. The automatic calibration feature is precise and easy to use. Turn the unit on, dip sensor in PH calibration fluid and hold the CAL button for a couple seconds and the screen will automatically calibrate to the calibration fluid. You must use the standard calibration fluid of 4.01, 7.01, or 10.01 to use the automatic function. The unit can be manually calibrated to any PH solution. For saltwater applications it is recommended to calibrate with both the 7.01 and 10.01 solution for best accuracy. The HM PH Meter will need to have the PH storage fluid replaced when levels get low (typically every 2 weeks). The Sensor needs to be constantly wet with PH storage solution to maintain accurate PH measurements. This is achieved by the plastic cap the sensor is stored in. I highly recommend that PH Calibration fluid of 7.01 and 10.01 plus PH storage solution be purchased separately. The unit does come with one dose of PH storage solution, and one packet of 7.01 calibration fluid.

Performance vs. Expectations
The product performs extremely well as a PH Meter. It has the ability to test water temperature as well. I have found that the water temperature readings can be off by 2-3 degrees. This issue seems to be constant with both calibrated and uncalibrated situations. The HM PH meter needs to be re-calibrated often in order to maintain accurate PH readings. It appears the accuracy of the calibration will diminish after two weeks of continual (once a day) checking. It is highly recommended to recalibrate with both 7.01 and 10.01 solution every two weeks if used often.

Value for money
If you are looking for a PH Meter that is reliable and accurate (minus the inaccuracy of temperature readings), then the HM PH Meter is a good choice and good value.

The HM PH Meter was simple to use. The calibration was easy to perform, and lasted a couple weeks of heavy use before the unit needed to be re-calibrated. The HM PH Meter is very accurate and reliable. The digital screen is easy to read.

Didn't like
The HM PH Meter is a great unit minus it's temperature function. The unit does not read temperature correctly. The temperature is constantly off by 2-3 degrees. If the temperature function is a big deal, then this is not the right unit for you. I gave the unit 4 stars not 5 because it has a feature that does not work properly.
