If looking for a phosphate test kit, this is a good solution. However, what is not clear with this product is that it (as with all hobby level test kits) is limited at the types of phosphate that it can measure. Registering a value on its scale does give you a positive test, but not registering a value does not mean your tank is phosphate free. Keep that in mind when handling nutrient issues in the tank.

this kit is pretty easy to use for what it is. The instructions are clear and the ability to perform the test is very simple. It's well packaged and comes with everything needed to do may test over the life of the kit.

I have found that the liquid portion of the reactant has a tendency to evaporate over time. For someone who doesnt do a lot of tests, this was an issue as I didnt get the full number of test out of the kit. It could have been that I didnt tighten down the lid all the way after use, but I don't suspect that's the case. Also, as previously noted, po4 test kits are limited in what they measure; they don't measure all forms of phosphate in the tank, and therefor these may give a false negative. That's true of all po4 kits, though, so it's somewhat unfair to knock this one for that characteristic.

Salifert Phosphate

Another good Salifert test. Simple to use. The only issue is that it is based on a color chart, which can be interpreted differently based on your particular lighting. The color is meant to be checked under sunlight.

Another great Salifert product
| General |
This one is like most Saliferts test they are a little tedious and take soem time. This one had a easy to read color chart and for the most part is straight forward. I do tes with this kit monthly why? I'm not totally sure maybe I feel like I need to but the bottom line is that there are very few "test tube" PO4 test kits there that can accuratly meaure the trace amount of Phosphates in out systems.
Like all Saliferts test is a winner but is it nescessary? I really do not know. |

good kit
| General |
This is the best PO4 kit I have used yet. I haven't used them all, but I have used quite a few. I especially like how you can double up the amounts and get a more precise reading. |

Good Kit
| General |
I have used this kit for the past year and doubt that I will buy another one when it expires. The test is hard to read accurately, in my opinion, and therefore difficult to use reliably. It does have its uses, which is in systems with high PO4 to help you identify you have a problem. |
