Does it work, yes and no. The color chart is from 7.4 to 8.6 but I don't like the .3 differences. For example I have to guess from 8.0 to 8.3 ph. Instead of .3 differences it should have a range of .1 for more accurate results.

It's the only Ph test kit my LFS had so I guess I'll make due. The instructions are easy and was easy to do a PH test.

as good as pH test kit gets

As with all test kits for pH, accuracy is questionable. Probably won't find a better test kit for those purposes, but better to use a pH controller/monitor with a recently calibrated probe. I've used this kit a number of times, but it's been a few years and now I rely on a pair of pH probes to give me an accurate idea of what my tank pH is.

simple to use, relatively inexpensive, and an easy way to get a ballpark pH range. I wouldnt trust it for making any definitive decisions, though (such as deciding to dose a pH boost for a low result).

As mentioned, the accuracy is questionable. I also think the range is a bit disappointing; usually a probe is going to give you a result with 2 significant digits, this one is only going to give you 1 significant digit if even that many.

Excellent Test Kit
| General |
Essential in systems running a calcium reactor to detect pH swings due to CO2 injection as well as problems with the buffering system in general. |

Another great Salifert test
| General |
This is by far Salifert's easiest and cheapest test.
Very simple to read and perform. just add tank water and solution and read results it cannot get easier than that.
I wish all Saliferts were this easy!
A must have for all reefers. |
