a cheap kit, but not that great

A simple cheap test kit that's maybe a bit better than using test strips for determining nitrite, this red sea kit comes with everything needed to execute a large number of tests. Generally nitrite is only measured in the first months of establishing a tank, and even then it's not necessary, so I don't find a lot of value in spending money on a test kit. But if you're looking for a cheap kit to graph some data on your tank's water parameters through the first few months, this is a good choice.

This kit is cheap. That's really the beauty. As already implied, I don't think there's much value in testing nitrite, so investing in a more designed brand kit doesn't make a lot of sense to me. This will be higher fidelity than a test strip, so if you don't mind the overhead of doing the test it's fine for what it is. The test itself is simple, involving just two reagents and requiring only a few minutes to perform (most of which is spent waiting on the results to finalize after performing all the steps).

I've never really liked the packaging of these red sea test kits. I'd prefer a simple box that I could just dump everything into, but the way these are designed doesn't allow you to do that (you have to basically reassemble it each time it's used). I also don't really like the color chart on this test, as I find it a bit of a challenge to determine final test results after following through with the steps.

Let me think very hard...
Honestly, nothing!

I am 7 weeks into my cycle. Come to find out the Nitrite and Ammonia test that Redsea offers do not (EVER) read a perfect 0. I took my aquarium water to the LFS who used another brand test kit and both Ammonia and Nitrites read 0. I found out through a different LFS that Redsea has never read a perfect 0 for them either! I came home and did a Google search on this problem and found others had the same issue! My cycle was done 3 or 4 weeks ago but I kept waiting for that perfect 0. I kept thinking any day now...
It's hard for me now to TRUST ANY Redsea tests! What a waist of money!
