even the pro kit leaves some to be desired featured

Comments Compared to their other alkalinity kit, this one isnt much better, and definitely not worth a cost difference. This still requires a color comparison for alkalinity, and the fidelity of the test is weak (at best). If you're keeping a lot of stony corals in your tank and need specific information about your alkalinity levels, do yourself a favor and by a quality kit that provides information to within +/- 0.2 dkh. This kit doesnt hit that mark, and you're better off saving your money. If you have just a few stony corals, or a fish only/softy marine tank, this kit may suffice for giving general confidence that your levels are within range, but most of the time that isnt enough information to make proper husbandry decisions.

Liked about it This kit is easy to use and comes with all the necessary equipment to perform many tests. The instructions are clear and there arent any surprises with the test. It's gives results a bit better than the standard pH/alk kit, but it still leaves a lot to be desired.

Didn't like This kit leaves a lot to be desired. For the cost, you're much better off investing in a real titration based alk kit such as the salifert brand. Using the pH kit is pointless, as the results are generally too vague to be helpful. The packaging is irritating in my opinion, as I don't like having to reassemble the entire package in order to store the unit. Bottom line, I'd recommend saving your money and getting a different test kit for alkalinity.
