decent test kit for simple calcium details

Calcium is the number one test kit required for long term maintenance of a successful reef tank (tied with alkalinity), and this kit gives decent results. I do prefer the ease of use and more clear indications of other brands (namely salifert), but if you don't need very detailed results this is a good kit to use. So for softy tanks, or even some LPS dominated systems that proper maintenance is performed, this would be fine. If you've got a lot of stony corals that require frequent supplementation, I'd recommend a different brand that gives more precise results.

This kit is inexpensive compared to other brands, and it's relatively straight forward to use. The instructions are are clear and the kit comes with everything need to perform the test.

I would prefer the color change of the test to be more clear, as I don't find the color difference to be very dynamic. As a result, it could be unclear when the test is complete. Also, the range of results does not give a very tight fidelity. Compared to other products, which give a result within 10ppm, this kit does leave a bit to be desired.

Good reliable kit

I always keep one of these kits on hand. This is one parameter that I like to have more than one test kit for. I typically have a higher end kit and this kit. I feel that this kit will get you in the ball park, and is usually reliable. But for the price of these its worth the piece of mind to have a second opinion, especially if you get a odd reading on the first test.

I like that they are inexpensive, and you get a good number of tests out of one kit. Also the color change is obvious and clear.

The only thing about these kits is that they only read in 1dKh increments. But for the price its still a great kit.

My eternal Alk struggle.

Alkalinity is important but so much more when you keep lots of SPS.
I test Alkalinity weekly. I test this more than anything else. I use bot API and another higher quality test. With only 1dkh range I need much more accuracy especially when 1 dkh is there difference is healthy corals and dead ones. Like I said I test with API just to get a ball park and to make sure there has not been a drastic change in my tank Alkalinity. For me thats about all it's good for I could never use this test solely.

accuracy is the biggest issue although I use this all the time I do not trust it and consider the results to be an estimate at best.

nice test for the money

this test is very good for a budget reefer but is not very accurate as others but this is a one bottle test meaning you only use one bottle instead using 2 it is simple to read and very cheap but this is a good test for beginers that are just getting into the reef i also used this test when i started

This is a good test kit, at a good price. The color change is nice and clear, and it's very simple to use.
