A decent, though simple, calcium test kit. featured

Comments Understanding calcium levels is important for almost any marine tank, and this kit is a good entry level solution. If you're looking for a good way to measure calcium at a good price, this is probably the best choice. The one factor I don't care about is that it's not a very high fidelity kit, with results over a relatively large range (compared to other brands). If you have a softy or even an LPS tank that gets regular water changes and requires little supplementation for calcium or alkalinity, this is a fine choice. If you've got a tank with a lot of stony corals, though, I'd recommend something with tighter results (I prefer the salifert brand for calcium).

Liked about it The instructions are clear, the price is good, and the kit offers everything required to perform the test. It's relatively repeatable and should provide plenty of tests. There's nothing bad about the kit, but nothing overwhelmingly great either.

Didn't like As already implied, this kit doesnt give results with a very tight range. Other brands cna give results within about a 10ppm range, and this kit doesnt equal those kits. Without that range, knowing exactly how much you need to dose or knowing precisely how well your reactor is tuned won't be achieved with this product.

a nice starter test for anyone

Comments this product does very well for the cost of it they do make better test kits for this but for a newcomer this is perfect it is the one i used at first and gives a pretty decent accuracy on the calcium levels. A calcium test is a must if you plan on dealing with any type coral.

Liked about it very easy to use and understand
gives a good accuracy on the level of calcium
it is cheap

Didn't like the instructions are on a peice of fine paper that rips easy and you must be careful not to get wet other wise they are ruined
the fluid in second bottle will always run out before you use half of fluid bottle #1

Simple, cheap, and accurate

Comments This test kit is a great value. Simple to use, consistent readings, and cheaper than the competition. Tracks calcium levels accurately and very easy to read the results. Precision is 20ppm per drop, which is sufficient for typical use.

Liked about it No messy syringes or powders.
Very quick to use.
Easy to determine color change point.

Didn't like They should provide double the amount of solution #2 since a typical reef keeper (who else would buy this?) should expect to use twice as much of it as solution #1 on a healthy tank.

Cheap and easy

Comments This test works well, it's easy to understand the directions, the results seem to be accurate when cross referenced against other brands in identical testing windows, bottle 2 should be bigger or bottle 1 smaller. i go through bottle 2 and still have 1/4-1/3 of the bottle 1 leftover

Liked about it Inexpensive, easy to perform test, stark color change to indicate results

Didn't like Having bottle 1 leftover (this happens with every brand i've had though)

Quick and easy Calcium test but not too accurate.

Comments I test for Calcium often. Not always with API.I do use a much higher end more expensive test but to to get an estimate I will use these test too.

Super easy. Just fill the fial to the line (5ml) add ten drop of #1 and ad #2 one drop at a time shaking between each drop. Each drop will equeal 20ppm Calcium.
So 20 drops equeal 400ppm. Not the most accurate but pretty close and here is a hint. If you KNOW your Ca will be over 300 just ad 15 drop right off. then one at a time. Shaking between each drop.

Liked about it cheap, Very cheap I always have one on hand.
easy to use By far the easieat Cal test short of a digital monitor.
clear concise instructions.

Didn't like Not as accurate or precise as the other high end test but they do get the job done.

You get what you pay for

Comments This test worked okay considering its cost but I would just save your money for a actual moniter.

Liked about it 1. affordable
2. easy to use instructions
3. plenty of tests per bottle

Didn't like You do run out of one bottle before the other so that seems like a waste. It is also not as accurate as most reef keepers need. For the money these tests are fine for short term use but be smart and get a moniter if you are really serious about your reef.

Good little test

Comments Dose a good job at testing Calcium, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. Only calcium test kit i have used, fairly easy to do.

Liked about it makes a nice blue color when finished, and has instant results, after you do a lot of drips and shakes.

Didn't like Takes a lot of dripping and shaking. but once you use it more then twice, you kinda know where where to start with the drops, so it dose not take as long.

good buy

Comments works well, easy to read, and reasonably priced.

Liked about it Accurate, easy to read.

Didn't like you use way more of one bottle than the other over time so you end up with test solution left. It would be good for them to sell the bottles seperately perhaps, or just make one bottle smaller. I don't know. Other than that it's a good test kit.

Cheap but works

Comments This product works great, and great value for money. Does not last long enough and before I know it time to get another. Recognizing color difference between the purple and blue between one drop and the next is difficult to determine.

Liked about it 1.easy to use
2.accurate
3.quick

Didn't like 1.counting drops
2.#1 bottle still has some contents in bottle while #2 is all gone. (wasteful)

API Calcium

General This test is almost a waste of time. You have to do a single drop then shake then read then repeat. Save your money and get a pin point monitor.

Liked about it Pretty accurate.

Didn't like All those drops and shaking.
