a decent kit for what it is featured

Comments It's my opinion that ammonia testing is almost never required. When first establishing a tank, it may be nice to know when the ammonia spikes, and when it's gone, but if you follow the habit of allowing the tank to cycle for 6-8 weeks before adding livestock you can generally avoid needing to know even this limited information about your ammonia levels. Once the tank is established, ammonia should never be present outside of a very dynamic event (tank failure due to power loss, adding a large amount of uncured liverock, or other die-off event). As a result, using these test strips is not a bad solution in lieu of a test kit. While the results are not as crisp, the need for detailed ammonia values is pretty low, so I could justify using these strips.

Liked about it There's no need for a chemistry degree to use these ammonia strips. Dip it in the water, then wait for the color to change. The instructions are clear and the product is easy to use. These strips are cheap, they give results within a tolerance range that's usable. While other products may give higher fidelity results, I'm not sure they're justified when it comes to costs.

Didn't like Nothing too negative about this product. It does not provide a tight range of results, so knowing the exact value of ammonia in the tank is a bit of a challenge, but as already stated ammonia presence alone is the issue. Really, all you would need to know is a true or false when it comes to ammonia, so the fidelity of the test (for ammonia, other parameters are a different story) is not that big of a deal.

Disapointment

Comments This item well in other words just save your money, they are very innacurate and unreliable imo just spend the exta couple dollars and get the liquid tests they are much more accurate and much more dependable, ya i understand that even if these tests show a little ammonia thats a problem but for a example today i tested my tank with these strips and they said 0 ammonia well i took water to my lfs and they told me my ammonia was at .25 either way these tests arent really worth the money the other strips that test the nitrites and such are a little better and much more cost effective but as for the ammonia and it only being one test at about $10 is not woth it just spend the extra couple dollars and get the liquid test kits much much better and you wont regretit.

Great Product

Comments Very reliable test kit. Comes with the color comparison chart, and test tube. Very accurate in my opinion. Not too expensive either.

Liked about it Good price, easy to use, and very reliable.

Didn't like Wish they could somehow share a bottle for both bottle 1 and bottle 2, instead of two different bottles, just make 1.
