Good Sand, good value. featured

Comments I purchased the original grade sand, and it is very fine. I am scared to see how fine the "oolite" would have been. This sand blows around like dust so be careful with the way your flow is setup. For the price, and the amount of sand recieved, I would say this is a great buy for someone looking for a quick cycle on a new reef tank, but if patience is part of your game, I would then look at buying a small amount of this sand, to simply seed a dry sand bed.

Liked about it I loved the color. It was almost pure white. I know this color may vary from one lot to the next, but I was very happy with it. I also like the high trace mineral content. I have had the sand in for 3 months, and no critters have been identified as hitch-hickers from this sand. The packaging in the bag is very well done, keeping the sand "live" for inception into a new tank.

Didn't like I did not like that the sand wasn't a little more coarse. It was almost too fine to be "original grade". I didn't like the fact that I put the sand in after the water.. Took only 2 days to clear up however :)

A good sand, but not better than dry sand

Comments To me this sand is a little risky, as the products don't list grain size or what the exact composition is. I've seen a few good reports, but I prefer to know exactly what I'm getting. This original grade product is likely to contain a lot of shells and maybe some hitchhikers, which good be a good thing or bad thing depending on your preferences.

Liked about it The biggest benefit of this product is the cost. It's hard to find livesand that comes in bags larger than 20 pounds, and this can be purchased in 40 pound increments. Because of this, it's generally cheaper. While you may not know exactly what you're getting, if you need a lot of sand and are determined to purchase livesand this may be a good option.

Didn't like As already implied, I don't care for how this product is marketed. It doesn't provide a lot of information and you're not quite certain about what you'll get. Typically it has good grain size and can be used in almost all applications, but if you're looking for something specific I'd look at other products.

Good Starter Sand

General I used some of this sand to seed both of my tanks. The cycle was short and the water cleared overnight. Great sand to seed with.

Liked about it Quick Cycle, Good Grain Size

Its sand

General nothing much to say. but that if you like a small grain size this is the one you want to get.

Liked about it i like the texture and grain size

Didn't like as with all sand it is very cloudy when you first put it in the water.
