An excellent investment! featured

Installation and Operation As others have mentioned, the manual....well there really was no instructione manual, and the little tags on the ins and out were a bit confusing, and could be a nightmare for a newbie. Once the unit is set up, it does function nicely.

Performance vs. Expectations Yes, it does a great job and will proccess our tap water to '0' TDS. A check of the built in TDS meter verifies the quality of the water leaving the RO/DI. I expected this 'extreme' to make a good amount of water, and it satisfies my demands. ~100g in 24 is what I ususally get. I agree with other comments that the advertized ratings aren't realistic, but are within reason.

Value for money Yes it was a good value, though my ultimate decision to buy was based on the reputation of the company and their customer service.

Customer Support Yes...they are very responsive and helpful in quick replies. We had a problem with a pump. They replaced it right away and gave advice on how to optimize its use.

Liked about it Rugged construction and well painted foruse in damp areas.

One touch checks for quality @ your finger tips.

Clear canisters show any kind of excess debris or contamination that could appear.

Didn't like The backflush valve is hard to get to and really should be mounted in a way that doesn't put stress on the tubing on either side of it.

A Great Return on Investment featured

Installation and Operation The unit, while still in the box, was very confusing to me. Little did I know I did not receive the actual hookup instructions. However after going through the documentation on the website, I found what I was looking for. It made a world of difference and made setting up my first RO/DI unit a breeze.

With the instructions in hand, it took a total of about 15 minutes to install and flush the system.

It's very easy to operate. I especially like the Auto-Shut-Off so that it's not still running (producing waste water) while it's not actually in use.

Performance vs. Expectations Normally when I see a rating like "150 gallons per day" I automatically divide that by two and use that as the output I can expect in the real world.

Once flushing the system, I did a "quick" test. I allowed the DI output to fill a 5 gallon bucket. This unit is rated at 150 gpd @ 72 psi (if memory serves). So when I saw 52 psi on the gauge I knew I would not be getting the advertised flow out of it.

I set a timer and allowed the bucket to fill to three inches below the rim. It took 50 minutes to get to that point. If that level is 5 gallons (or even close), I'm getting an output of 144 gpd from this unit.

Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised.

Value for money Taking into account the cost of LFS RO/DI water, the amount of water used during water changes, the frequency of my water changes, the cost of drinking water, and our frequency of refilling those, I will break even at 3 months.

Not a bad return on investment at all.

Customer Support I have not needed to deal with customer support personally. However, their website contains all necessary instruction documents that an owner would need.

Liked about it Return on investment
*Flexibility of use - it is plumbed to do top-offs, store RO drinking water, and to store DI water for my salt mixing container.
*Comes with plenty of valve options - I only needed to purchase an addition T and valve since I wanted a DI line run to a storage container AND to the tank for top-offs.

Didn't like The only thing I didn't like was the documentation. At first I thought the LFS had printed some crap off the internet and stapled it together. Nope. That's how it comes. And I was missing what I consider to be the most important document - the instructions on setting it up.

That was quickly remedied by visiting the website and getting the PDF onto my phone for quick consultations while installing it in the basement.

If the worst thing is documentation, I'll take that over malfunction any day!

Outstanding RO/DI unit! featured

Installation and Operation The Typhoon III is amazing. I've been putting this product to the test now for a bit over a month and I am very satisfied. Installation was simple. For my purposes I connected it up in the cabinet under my kitchen sink. Screwed into the wall perfectly. AWI lets you select which connector you would like for the unit so I requested the faucet connection. It has a valve that lets you switch between your tap and the RO/DI system. PERFECT! Easy to operate and works great. Has a valve to bypass the DI resin and make RO only water also for drinking and other uses.

Performance vs. Expectations The product, for me, performed exactly as advertised. It works amazingly well and produces enough water for my uses.

Value for money I can't say for sure since this is the first RO/DI unit I have purchased. I'd say though that is is worth the money and definately a good purchase to make.

Customer Support I haven't had to deal with the company specifically aside from just placing the order through them but I have heard they have excellent customer service and will work with you to resolve any issues very, very quickly.

Liked about it The DI Bypass valve for RO only
* EASY installation (whole setup was about 30 minutes for me)
* Ease of operation

Didn't like Wish it wasn't so heavy (not really anything that can be done about that though, it's RO/DI)
* The instructions could be a bit better organized (Instructions were a bunch of 8.5 x 11 papers stapled together on the corners and shoved into a white "Air, Water, Ice" folder). They were a bit hard to read as they looked like they were copies of copies and there were duplicate pages which made things hard to follow.

The last RO/DI system you'll ever buy featured

Installation and Operation Installation was quite simple due to the detailed instructions. Almost all connections are pre-assembled so all that is left to do is to connect it to a water source, a storage container for the clean water, and drain for the waste water. If you intend to hang the system on a wall, be sure you have very sturdy anchors into studs or a header since the unit is heavy even when empty and several pounds heavier when you factor in the water.

Performance vs. Expectations With adequate pressure on the water source, the system produces zero TDS water quickly. I have not attempted to get 150 gallons per day out of it, so I can't say whether it lives up to the maximum rating. When I first installed the provided saddle valve on the water source (PEX tubing), I could not get sufficient water pressure through the connection. I installed a T into the PEX line to solve this. Other types of pipe would probably perform better with the saddle valve, but if you have PEX you may want to plan for a better connection that what you can get with a saddle valve alone.

Value for money Considering the top notch quality and all of the extras that are included with the Extreme Typhoon III package, this is a very good value. I'm sure that cheaper solutions exist which might be adequate, but you know that you are getting an excellent product from a great company when you buy the Typhoon.

Customer Support Support was very good. The saddle valve I received had an o-ring that wasn't seated properly which caused a drip, and they were willing to send out a replacement right away. However, I was able to remove and re-seat the o-ring myself so the replacement was not necessary after all.

Liked about it Sturdy steel frame - no worries about cracking or bending over time.
Pre-assembled - perfect for somebody with little or no experience with RO/DI systems.
Includes extras, such as a float valve and plenty of extra tubing, which make finishing the installation a snap without extra trips to the hardware store.

Didn't like The saddle valve, while very nice, didn't work well for the PEX tubing on my water supply since the hole that it tapped would seal itself off, limiting pressure to the system. It would be nice if they provided a more detailed set of installation instructions and alternatives for different types of source connections. The instructions could also be a little better organized, but they may have been improved since I purchased in 2008.

Best R.O.D.I System for the price! featured

Installation and Operation Very simple installation, the unit comes almost completely plumbed. Only have to plumb in the drain an supply, and install the accessories. The instructions a great. They take you through every step from start to finish an explain how everything works. The system is very simple to maintain with the built in tds meter an quick check monitor to help you check your water quality. The Psi gauge helps you make sure that its running at the correct pressure, and helps extending membrane life. The filters should be changed annually depending on water quality. Has a great fast flush valves to help wash system after membrane change.

Performance vs. Expectations This R.O.D.i system is a great lil package. With all the accessories an built in tools. The unit produces some of the puriest water. Comes with everything need to install. Always got 0 Tds readings from water. The waste production ratio is 3-4 to 1

Value for money Best r.o.d.i system for the price in my opinion. Its hard to find a 5 stage system with all the features and accessories that come with it for the price.

Customer Support Yes, Great people to deal with. Super fast response and very detailed answers. Very helpful an knowledgeable about their products.

Liked about it I really liked this unit. The instrument panel is a great thing. It lets you know your Psi ,tds, and quick check filter monitor. The system comes with everything to install unit an more. No need to hunt down an find parts to install system. The hand held tds and float valve are great accessories. It is a very small an powerful system.

Didn't like I really liked the unit dont think i would change an add anything different about the system.
