It works well
| Installation and Operation |
The filter is easy to install, easy to operate. The instruction aren't real helpful as far as the amount of water pressure to use. Drs. F&S clarified this for me.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
It performs well, actually better than I expected. I checked my TDS before and they were 78 ppm and then checked after the filter change and they were zero. The ad says that it changes color when it starts to exhaust, but it is very hard to see. I take the top off and remove the top floss pad to check color. I also check water out with my TDS meter.
|
| Value for money |
The cost of the actual filter is very cheap as compared to an RO/DI filter, however the cost to replace the filter cartridges can be more than double that of replacement filters for an RO/DI unit, depending on the quality of water coming from your municipality.
|
| Customer Support |
Wrote them an email twice to no avail. No response, but that seems to be the norm with many aquarium equipment manufacturers.
|
| Liked about it |
1. Easy to use. Doesn't waste water like a RO/DI unit does. You use all the water that you run through it.
2. Lightweight and very portable-easy to store, I just put it in a 5 gallon bucket to store.
3. It gets rid of the TDS and bad stuff.
|
| Didn't like |
1. The cost of replacement cartridges is high.
2. The faucet hook up is kinda cheap, it works, but you have to be pretty gentle with it.
3. Slow to use.

Works for me
| Installation and Operation |
Easy enough to hook to your faucet with enclosed adapter.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
I check the water coming out of the unit with a TDS meter. It reads zero. Good instructions.
|
| Value for money |
I use NYC tap water and I get a very long run out of it. Easily 100 gallons. There are retailers that sell the replacements for 20 dollars. Cheap compared to the purchase price for replacement RODI cartridges. If you can get 100 gallons out of one, I would recommend it. For tanks up to 55 gallons.

Never needed to contact them. Product worked as expected.

Of course I wish it were a little cheaper, but it is a good value for me.

its awsome
| Installation and Operation |
very easy to use if your not a lazy person. instructions were very easy to understand. very simple to operate if you invest some time to do the job right. not much maintenance involved at all.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
this product performs better than anything eles on the market for me. ro units are also very good but waste to much water for me to use.

| Value for money |
money well spent for me. i buy the refills on the drs foster and smith web site, i buy them in bulk and get a much cheaper price.
|
| Customer Support |

| Liked about it |
i live in new jersey and our tap water is horrible, the worst water around. cloromines, ammonia, nitrite, nitrates, are all present in my tap water. this tap water filter takes everything out even the copper from my plumbing. the key is to run the water slower than what the manufacture says and you get more out of the filter. i always get between 80-100 gallons and thats great for my water.

| Didn't like |
i liked everything the tap water filter has to offer.

Good for soft freshwater tanks, better than nothin
| Installation and Operation |
It is easy to hook up but will not remove everything that a RO/DI system will. The replacement resin is quite expensive and this filter would be expensive to run over time.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
They market it in some outlets as an alternative to RO. It will not produce as pure of water as RO/DI.
|
| Value for money |
I had it for a soft water tank. However due to how fast the resins are used up and the price of replacements even for FW you are better off spending your money on a RO/DI combo system

Low initial cost.
Easy to use.

Media does not last long.
It is incomplete for a reef tank and does not remove all the impurities of tap.

Worked well for me..
| Installation and Operation |
Easy install. screw in the faucet adapter and hook up a couple pieces of tubing.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
Performed ok, better at really low flow. Is good for people with good water quality from their tap, if you have higher TDS tap, then I suggest something better.
|
| Value for money |
I got mine on a really good sale, but overall, i think a standard filter canister with a refillable DI housing would be cheaper

You get what you pay for.
| General |
If you have an RO unit for house drinking water this might be OK to purify water for a salt water tank.
Probably best use is for fresh water fish tanks. |
| Liked about it |
Easy to hook up to tap.
Can use simple measuring cup to adjust flow rate buy timing 1 cup per 30 seconds.
|
| Didn't like |
Not for use in reef tanks due to lack fittration of uncharged organic molecules.
