90 GPD Refurb
Installation and Operation
I bought the 90 gpd refurbished unit from Spectrapure about two years ago. It was easy to install. I live in an apartment and do not want to mess with the plumbing, so I bought an adapter to fit on my kitchen sink faucet. It takes a couple minutes to hook it up and start making water. Maintaining it consists of monitoring the TDS, and changing filters annually. I also sanitize the unit when changing filters.

Performance vs. Expectations
I was told by many that Spectrapure was top of the line. After using the unit for the past two years, I am a believer. This may have been my best investment for my reef yet.

Value for money
The refurb and inline TDS meter cost me around $150 shipped if I remember correctly. I would have easily paid double that and still would have been satisfied.

I like the fact that I get 0 TDS out of the unit for close to a year. The set up is a piece of cake. I love knowing that the water I'm going to let my animals live in is top quality.

The replacement filters could be cheaper, but with that being said, I don't mind paying the extra for the best.

Love it!
Installation and Operation
Reasonably easy to install, my water pressure in FL is a little low so it took what seemed like forever to get it up-and-running, and to produce water. The instructions are easy to follow, I would suggest reading a few times over before actually setting up. I read once and then ended up confusing a step or 2, but nothing that created any issue.

Performance vs. Expectations
Meets and exceeds all. Although the production of water is slower than I would like, which I could easily solve by buying a booster pump, this unit works great!

Value for money
Totally worth it. Bought to keep myself from having to lug water from the LFS, and in the long run save $$$, however it is going to take about a year to pay for itself, which is fine by me.

Customer Support
Had a mix-up with my shipping label, and they were more than willing to help rectify it, however I do put majority of the blame on UPS, since they could have easily called to fix it the day it was supposed to be delivered.

Everything.
-Easy to install
-Water seems leaps and bounds better than that which I was buying at LFS
-Great customer service

Nothing about the unit, or company. My only complaint is with UPS, since they didn't bother calling when my number was on the label, and there was a misplaced delivery address number on the label, their solution was to not notify me, I only found this out by calling and complaining to UPS.

Spectrapure MaxCap 90gpd RODI
Installation and Operation
Easy to install, though some setups can be a bit complex depending on how you plumb things. Both the instructions and the online help via vendor forum were very helpful. Spectrapure really does a good job of walking you through setup, especially calibrating the unit so that the ratio of waste/RODI is proper. This ensures that your RO lasts it's full life. I set my system up with a RO (only) drinking water reservoir plumbed 25 feet away on the kitchen sink. Spectrapure provided all of the valves, T's, and pressure sensors to make the setup easy.
|
Performance vs. Expectations
Exceeds my expecations. My tank has never looked beter, and I attribute that to good RODI with low TDS. There are two built-in TDS meters, showing both in put and output. This allows you to monitor the effectiveness of the RO and DI membranes.
|
Value for money
You can buy a RODI for less, but I doubt that you could buy one that was the same quality anywhere. Spectrapure has a variety of types of pre & post filters depending on your water type. Each RO unit is tested, and the quality is fantastic. Surprisingly, I have not had to change my RO filter in almost two years, though I have changed my carbon block and prefilter. I still get 0-1 TDS, and I make 30gallons a month or more.

Fantastic. I was missing a piece for the installation, and they sent it, and a few other pieces, Fed-ex next day no questions asked. I would buy another unit without hesitation.

This unit might be $50 more than other leading units, but worth it.
