One of the most attractive goby but not for beginners
Comments
I would not classify this as an advanced fish, not like a dragonet species, but among the goby, which are often beginner fish, this is certainly a moderately difficult fish. The main reason for this is diet. They do best with live foods, like mysis and brine shrimp that have been gut loaded with vitamins. That's a bit of a process for the average aquarist. They will eat frozen foods as well, pretty readily. They are also a sand sifting species getting some of their nutrition that way. My recommendation is to turn off the pumps in the tank during feeding time and let the food settle slowly down to the bottom.
This goby is territorial with its own kind, but I've been able to keep it with larger goby species with no problem. I would not consider it an aggressive species but would not keep it with any of the smaller or tiny goby.

Two Spot Goby -Don't waste your money
Comments
Since starting my aquarium I've never been able to successfully care for one of these gobies. I've tried multiple times and used every trick I know but these fish are extremely finicky about what they eat. Every time I've purchased one of these fish they always starved it themselves - I'll never buy another one again as they are a waste of money

2 Spot Goby
General
I lost two of these fish in a short time frame. I quarantined both fish, the first one didn't make it through the first night. The second one only lasted 3 days in the main tank, an established 75g reef. It was acting normal, then within a few hours it was dead. I will not try another one. |

It is a beautiful fish.
I liked that is a sand sifter.

Didn't like
I have read that they are hard to keep.
I realized it was too small to effectively clean/stir the sand bed in a 75g.
