The care of the Royal Gramma is easy. A beginner should not have a problem giving this fish a good life. Any meaty food I drop in the tank he gobbles up. I like to feed a lot so my Gramma has fattened up considerably. He swims pretty much all over my tank making him a pretty active fish. When I first introduced my Bi-Color Blenny, the Gramma was not too happy. He opened his mouth very wide and I thought he'd swallow my Blenny whole. This went on for a few days but the aggression has ceased.

I like the color and the detail in the Royal Gramma. He is a deep purple and yellow with a dark stripe through his eye. He also has a dark dot toward the front of his top fin. Grammas are relatively peaceful fish with a hint of aggression. Easy care, great looking and fun to watch.

The perfect fish for a nano or even a large tank!

These "Grandma" fish are great! Lots of Color, very reef safe and somewhat social but they will spend lots of time hiding in the rocks. I would not expect to see your Royal Gramma very often. they just prefer to stay deep in the live rock. That being said when they do come out the are great. I love the purple/orange coloration. There are not alot of purple reef fish out there so this is a great addition to any tank. It can be kept in a small tank or a huge one if you so choose.

The Color! It's very unique and I love the purple!
This fish is reef save and compatible with just about any other reef safe fish.
It's a bit shy but once it come out there is some personality there.

It tends to hide in the rocks alot and is not very social.
It's great when it come out but that is not too often.

solitary in life, maintains one area in the reef and stays in the top most area of the tank.
Will sleep in the same rock crevice for the night

very colorful, peaceful reefish but can stand up for itself as needed,
purple & deep yellow with a black eye, eats mysis shrimhp fed every other day

I have't found anything I haven't liked about this fish as of yet and I had him for more than a year. He is quick and bold but not brash. Can be trained to eat a rehydrated Krill out of you hand and still have a few fingers left.
