smaller of the dwarf angels
| Comments |
If you're looking for a dwarf angel, this may be one of the best options available. This fish stays small, reaching only about 3 inches, and is one of the smallest of the dwarfs. It requires a tank of about 30 gallons or larger, and generally shouldn't be housed with other dwarfs, but I have experienced it to be one of the least likely of the dwarf angels to nip at coral. While that's not guarantee, it does make this fish a better candidate for being housed in a reef tank.

This is a beautiful fish that has a good personality and doesn't take up a lot of space. Requiring just a 30 gallon tank or so, this fish will provide a lot of color and activity to your aquarium. It does do well in captivity, but make certain you're providing the right types of food that it needs (particularly meaty foods and even some that are sponge based, as this is it's diet in the wild and may help get it acclimated to captivity). This particular fish comes from Africa, so it's a little more unique than some other dwarf angels of similar coloration.

Only two things to bring up here. First, this fish is going to be more expensive than many of the other dwarfs. At upwards of $60, committing to one of these may be a bit more daunting. Especially considering the second complaint, this fish is still no guarantee to properly behave in a coral dominated tank. If you're hoping for a fish that won't pester corals, this may be your best bet in the dwarf family, but you still need to be prepared for the possibility that it doesnt behave.

Awesome!

I think this is one of the best angels out there. I believe they are the smallest of the angles even among pygmies, but they add loads of personality to the tank. They are very colorful and easy to feed, the one that I have will eat almost anything including flake which they were feeding him at the store before I got him. Great color and although they are said to be semi aggressive I have not encountered any problems in my mixed community.

Not the cheapest of the angels, but you get what you pay for.

Flashy!!

I had one of these in a 120 FOWLR tank along with a queen angel. This fish was extremely easy to feed. Always on the move. Never really bothered any of the other fish and the queen didn't bother the flame. He was very active so there was always movement and a splash of blue going through the tank.

Loved the color. I also liked that you don't see them in every lfs. Nice addtion with larger angels.

I liked everything about this fish for the tank I had it in. I don't think I would add it to a reef tank.
