Worth a second look!
| General |
I had seen these fish at my lfs several times but never really taken a good look at them. For some reason they never really caught my eye when I was shopping for fish. One day the salesperson was telling me how he had a group in his tank and really loved them and that they were having a 1/2 off special on them that day. I bought 7 because he said I should buy in odd numbers. For the first few days they stayed pretty much hid away but then all of a sudden they were out and about! The more they were out the brighter their colors became. These fish like to hang out in the middle of the tank or the upper portion of the tank. They looked incredible together and anytime someone would come over to the apt that was the first fish they would remark on. They are very hardy they ate any and everything I fed them I never saw them fighting or bothering other corals. So if you see these fish in your lfs take a longer look these fish are worth a a second look! |

cool fish that are good for peaceful tanks
| Comments |
Dartfish are pretty slick, and I've kept a few of these over the years. You can keep them in groups and they'll do well in smaller, peaceful tanks. These fish may reach about 6" in length, but they're very thin and don't take up a lot of space. A tank over about 40 gallons should be fine for one, and maybe even more if there arent other fish in the tank.

The way they swim around, darting under rocks in the blink of an eye, is pretty fun to watch. They are a very peaceful fish that should do well in a reef tank, and can be kept in groups. These bar gobies, or dartfish as I know them, are easy to acclimate to captivity and do fine on prepared foods.

The only downside of these fish is that they're terribly skittish. The do not do well with larger aggressive fish in the tank, as they're going to hide in rocks and rarely come out for display. Otherwise, they are a good fish, and they won't bother anything else in the tank.
