Foxface Lo (Siganus vulpinus) Featured

To 9" at maturity, the foxface lo is a docile species that does well with almost all other reef fish. Very peaceful and one of the best options at nuisance algae control, these fish are often collected from the indo-pacific region.

The gentle giant! featured

Comments The one spoted rabbit fish is an excellent addition to any large tank for many reasons. For one it's a voracious grazer. Got algae? get ya one of these guys. They are extremely docile, they bother no one and no one bothers them. Although these guys are listed as reef safe with caution I have never heard of them nipping at corals as some of their other rabbit fish cousins do.

They will grow large up to 10" or more so a large tank with lots of room to swim is a must. Very hardy and easy to keep the one spot rabbit fish is not too picky when it comes to eating. When frightened or stressed they do take on a somewhat ugly tone and color but that's not the norm for these fish. Vibrant yellow/black and white give these fish lots is flair and are a great addition to any large tank! These fish do have a poisonous dorsal so handle with care.

Liked about it Very friendly and gets along with everyone. A very docile fish.
Beautiful colors except when stressed or scared.
An excellent algae grazer that will not eat coral.

Didn't like The poisonous dorsal is a bit of a concern but I have never heard of anyone getting hurt by one.
They do tend to grow large limiting who can keep them.

An interesting fish.

Comments This is a great fish with plenty of color for a mid sized tank or larger. A very hardy fish and easy to care for. Mine will eat off the algea sheets that are placed into the tank for the tangs and also go for the meaty foods. It has venomous dorsal fin so don't try to net it and hold the net with your hand! This guy may suprise you as it sometimes changes color to gray and hug up against the rock. This guy hs not bothered any of my fish nor has my other fish bothered this one. Not incredibly expensive to purchase.

Liked about it Very colorful fish and easy to aclimate and is very hardy. Seems to be a model citizen in the tank and gets along nicely with other fish. Will readily eat most all foods for your fish.

Didn't like This guy has the venomous dorsal fin. Something to keep in mind when your hand is in the tank. He will most likely go hide but you should always be aware.

A Gentel Swimmer that is Always on the Cruise.

Comments I have always wanted one of these fish. They are a great addition to any larger reef aquarium. I found mine on sale at the LFS and it was kind of an impulse purchase for 20.00. The fish was a little small (for a Fox Face) after the acclimation process the fish was added to the display tank along with a sail fin tang. Both fish cruised the tank together for about 3 hours. I had a lot of algae in the tank and both began chowing down. I was very happy to see this. I have yet to see this fish be aggressive to anything (except algae) This fish is really active and is always seen swimming in the upper part of the water column in the tank. This fish also took to brine shrimp plus and mysid shrimp with ease.

Liked about it Easy acclimation, Great eater right from the get go, Reef tank friendly, Non-aggressive.

Didn't like Nothing

A bullet proof fish, one of the best choices for a reef tank

Comments These fish are often overlooked, however they provide nothing but good things for a reef tank. While there's no guarantee, they're often regarded as one of the best fish for nuisance algae control. I've had one for about 5 years, and it has done wonderfully in my tank. Completely harmless to other fish, it will eat from my hand. They do have poisonous spines, so it's never recommended to wrap your hand around them, but this characteristic is probably what makes them so peaceful (other fish leave them alone). Some rabbitfish do get a bad rap for eating soft corals, I've never experienced it myself and I think the Lo is not in that group.

Liked about it Peaceful, great algae eater, vibrantly colored, wonderful personality, I honestly can't say enough good about this fish. If you have a tank over about 75 gallons, this fish would make a great addition.

Didn't like Personally, there's no dislikes about this fish. Some don't find them attractive, and others have reports SOME of the rabbitfish family to nibble on soft corals, neither of those things are have taken away from my enjoyment of this fish.
