Chevron Tang (Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis)
|
The Chevron Tang, also known as the Hawaiian Bristletooth, Hawaiian Surgeonfish, or Black Surgeonfish, has an oval body shape with radiating, bold markings that change with maturity. At maturity, this fish will be much duller in markings, but beautiful all the same. Collected in the Pacific, this fish may reach ~10".

Beautiful fish as a juvenile, and elegant as an adult
| Comments |
This is an excellent showcase fish. Generally easy to acclimate to captivity, and captivating in coloration as a juvenile, this fish is suitable for most reef tanks over 100 gallons. As with most bristletooth tangs, this fish is peaceful towards tankmates with the possible exception of other surgeonfish (especially those in the Ctenochaetus genus). I'd highly recommend this fish if you have the tank size to accommodate it.

Amazing coloration, peaceful towards tankmates, and may even help clean rocks of excess wastes.

Very little to dislike about this fish other than the price it commands, you'd be hardpressed to find one under $150.
