Blonde Naso Tang (Naso elegans)
|
The Naso Blonde Tang, also known as the Orange-spine Unicornfish, darkens with maturity. As a juvenile, it is gray with a yellow stripe on both the dorsal and anal fin. When matured, the body takes on a darker bluish-gray tone and the juvenile striping is supplemented with additional color. Simply beautiful! as long as you have a large tank!

One of the most amazing surgeon fish available the Blond Naso is a beautiful as it is elegant. It's a very large fish and requires a very large tank. If you are fortunate enough to be able to keep one you will not be disappointed. With it's striking yellow dorsal and sleek Grey body this fish is a keeper. They are very easy to keep and are not very picky when it comes to eating. Reef save and compatible with most other fish. The Blond Naso gets along with everyone even many other tangs. Many tangs are prone to ich but in my experience this one seems slightly less prone. Keep it well fed and it will give you many years of viewing pleasure.

Great reef fish if you have the tank for it.

A beautiful fish that is generally peaceful, this is an excellent showcase fish. The one thing that must be taken into account is the adult size. Easily reaching upwards of 12" in captivity, I would not recommend it for anything under 200 gallons. I've also read reports that this fish will consume Lobophora algae (brown leaf algae), which can otherwise be a terrible nuisance to deal with.

Wonderful coloration, peaceful towards tankmates, and a possible nuisance algae eater.

More expensive than the more common naso tang, very large fish.
