4-Stripe Damselfish
|
The 4-Stripe Damsel has four vertical black bars across its white body and fins. They are aggressive and territorial fish and should only be kept with fish that can handle themselves. They are ideal for reef aquariums...

Not as much color but just as aggresive and the blue devil!
| Comments |
Basically identical to the 3 stripe. The 4 stripe in a unique damsel with it's alternating black and white stripes. The three strip and four stripe are not as colorful as other damsel fish but are just as aggressive! Although they can be kept in a small aquarium I think much of the aggressive nature would subside in a large tank. Super cheap and easy to care for. If you do not mind a little fighting choose a 3 or 4 strip damsel. But if you decide you want it gone plane on removing all your rocks. These guys can get into the smallest crevice.

Care, they are easy to keep and nearly bullet proof.
Color, all of the damsel fish are extremely bright and colorful but the 3 and 4 stripes are not as colorful as the others.

Aggression, they fish are very aggressive and are always picking fights even with fish much bigger than them.
They are also near impossible to remove from your tank if you so choose.

Look good..but thats it
| Comments |
Cute little guys that look good. I had a bad exp with them, partly my fault but I blame the humbugs. They were in my tank with two clown fish and one blue tang. Turns out the blue tang is a fish who likes a lot of space and my lack of experience was my first mistake. I put 4 humbugs in last, as suggested by LFS, and they seemed ok. The clowns seemed to keep them in check and they darted round and were fun to watch. They only really bothered eachother. A few weeks later my tang got ich and being a newby everything got ich.
Another local fish store put it..."Humbugs, as their name suggests are little humbugs! We don't stock them, they should be left where they belong, in the sea."

Can be a bully!
| General |
This is a excellent first fish. However be aware that they are hard to catch if you have a good amount of live rock. They also can bully just about anything close to their size. They can be kept in groups but one will usually keep the others in check so kept several as opposed to two so that the aggression will be spread out. |

This is a easy fish to keep, will accept almost any food an excellent choice for a first fish.

This fish will bully anything else close to its size, this can be an even bigger problem when they get big!

I once had an all damsel 55gal.
It was a cheap way of making a take with a lot of fish.
If you put them all in at once and give plenty of rock work to hide in then they will do fine.
Make sure not to shock your biological filter though by adding them in without preparing the tank.
