| Installation and Operation |
Installing this skimmer is pretty straight-forward but it puts a lot of bubbles back into your system if you don't have a sump. The bubble diffuser leaves a lot to be desired and the skimmate is very wet. The bubbles are not as fine as one would see in other skimmers and the cup doesn't hold enough. I wouldn't recommend this skimmer on anything larger than a 100-124g tank, and even then one would probably have to do many modifications to keep it running optimally. Overall, there are too many decently priced, "better" skimmers out there to have to resort to using this one.

Yes I would recommend this skimmer

Overall you cant beat this skimmer for the money! I had one for over two yrs and over all I was really happy with the skimmer. The only reason I gave it to my friend was because I bought a bigger tank and needed a bigger skimmer. The injector and baffle box needs to be cleaned regularly and it will overflow if you add certain foods or additives. If I ever go back to a smaller tank this would be one of the first skimmers I would look at. |

Excellent skimmer plus excellent price

I got this skimmer for my 75g setup and it has been producing excellent skim since day 1. super easy to set up, and a great value. i got the 220 so that i won't have to change skimmers when the eventual upgrade occurs. i can't imagine another skimmer working "better". within 1 week my nitrates we finally down below measurable levels. i had been doing weekly water changes for months and never got this low on nitrates. love this skimmer!! |

Coralife Super Skimmer 220
| General |
The CSS 220 needle-wheel is a very good skimmer for the price. If you do a minor modification to upsize the drain hole and replace the pump with a more powerful needle-wheel pump, you'll end up with a very good product at a low cost. |

The skimmer pump is a little weak and the skimmer functions better if you get a stronger needle wheel pump for it. The skimmer body is a little thin, but it doesn't affect it's performance. The only other item that I would change is the size of the collection cup drain hole is too small and plugs up easily.

Coralife 220 Skimmer Review

Can be a good skimmer with a few mods. I have all three sizes of CSS skimmers (65/125/220) and they all work relatively well but they all needed a few mods to get them to there full potential. |

Body can be in or out of sump while the pump has to be in the sump. Allows freeing up the sump space if its needed with room in the stand for it. Lends itself to a few mods fairly well.
