No the worst skimmer in the world, could be used in a small tank featured

Installation and Operation Skimmers are one of those things that many aquarists have to learn about the hard way. The fact is, a good one is expensive and that price tag can be intimidating. Welcome to the hobby! For those with a budget of $40 or $50 dollars paying $80 for a Sea Clone may feel like you are upgrading and buying the more expensive model but that simply isn't the case.

Will it skim? Yes, it will, so in that, I must say that it works. However, the amount of skimmate produced is simply not enough for a tank the size of one the product is designed for. Perhaps on a 50 gallon tank, this skimmer would meat your skimming needs.

That said, I still would not recommend this skimmer. I have heard and read complaint after complaint about the construction of the product with some of those complaints including leaking. It is also rather cumbersome as a hang-on. The Remora by AquaC is a much better skimmer, and many aquarists swear by the Octopus line of skimmer.

Performance vs. Expectations This product is not enough of a skimmer for a 150 gallon tank, unless the bio-load is minuscule. I will not say this skimmer doesn't skim, it does, and with adjustments (frequent) it can be made to haul a pretty good load of skimmate. If you have a smaller tank, say 50 gallons, and you absolutely cannot afford anything else, this skimmer will skim, but experience has shown me you will eventually become unhappy with it and want to buy a better skimmer.

Value for money It simply doesn't matter that the skimmer costs less than other brands, if you end up having to buy a second one down the road, you've wasted your money. If I had a small tank, and I could get a slightly used one for cheap, I might consider buying another one, but only under those very specific circumstances.

Customer Support I have not needed to use customer support, however I tried to find their web site once using Google, and it never showed up...

Liked about it 1. Will skim small tanks
2. Easy to install

Didn't like 1. Does not skim large tanks
2. Requires frequent adjustments
3. May leak (anecdotal evidence only on this one)
4. Not actually cheap considering the work it does

Not a good skimmer featured

Installation and Operation If you're looking for a good skimmer, skip over the seaclone line. This is a cheap product that woefully underperforms. I think most folks are attracted to the price tag, assuming that it's good for use on a tank as large as 150 gallons (due to the name). In practice, this unit shouldnt be used on a tank over about 30 gallons, and even then I would expect to use it for primary nutrient export.

Performance vs. Expectations Way below my expectations. This is not a very good unit, and you'll be disappointed if you have even modest expectations. I'd simply keep shopping.

Value for money If you can find this very cheap, it may be an alright investment. If you're buying it for anywhere retail price, though, it is a pretty poor value.

Liked about it What's to say that's good about this unit? It has a very low price, but otherwise almost all input falls into the negative column. It does have a decent design to hang on a tank, which is not common for skimmers, but I've had the pump inlet fall off when bumped so that usually results in water sprayed out of the tank. The construction is sound, and this will last for years, but it doesnt perform well so that's almost an irritation.

Didn't like The basic design does not lend itself to great foam production, thus the ability to remove a large volume of dissolved organic compounds is greatly inhibited. The product implies that it can be operated on large tanks, but I've found that to be greatly misleading. I used this on a 30 gallon long tank for probably 2 years, and never did I have an issue with excessive foam production. This unit works for aeration of the tank, but I wouldnt expect it to do much in terms of nutrient export. If you have high hopes, save yourself the money and invest in a quality product by another manufacturer (such as AquaC of Octopus for hang-on skimmers).

Seaclone

General In general not the best bang for the buck. A lot of newbies (including myself) get suckered into buying this when there are much better starter skimmers out there for this price.

Didn't like Pump too small, not a good air to water ratio, put a lot of micro bubbles back into tank, foam pre-filter clogs quickly.

Decent Skimmer for Smaller System

General This skimmer worked well for what it was. It is definitely overrated in capacity, but it works well for system under 50 gallons I would say. There are better skimmers out there, but this one does the job for what it is designed for. Just not for 150 gallons!

Liked about it Pulled Skimmate, Quiet, Inexpensive

Didn't like Cheap Construction
