| Installation and Operation |
Overall, the skimmer is good; however, I highly advise you NOT to run this skimmer outside of your sump. Make sure it will fit INSIDE your sump; otherwise, go with something else. The needle wheel pump has finally been redesigned. I was having a lot of issues with it freezing up when it got too hot. Because I've set mine up to run outside of my sump (I thought it was big enough when I bought it) I had to plum the return back to the sump. The return is designed to rotate, but the seal sometimes leaks if it's offset by the smallest bit. If you run the skimmer in a sump, this will never be an issue.

| Performance vs. Expectations |
The skimmer is a monster and will do a great job of removing protein from your tank. The only gripe I have is with the self-cleaning system. It really doesn't work as well as I expected it to. You will have to clean it regularly, which kind of defeats the purpose of the feature.

Great skimmer will not be disappointed. Its so easy to use a caveman can do it ha. Just make sure you have the room to fit it in your sump |

Easy to use

These skimmers are great. I have two of them and love them. the neck washing system is good but you still have to clean it out every now and then. It will not fit into a megaflow 4 sump though as the dimension that they give you is without the return elbow on. Thank you red sea for FINALLY making a skimmer that ranks up there with the rest. You will not be disappointed with the skimmate production and ease of use this skimmer has. |
