Good for what it's made for.

Overall, well worth the $100.00-$125.00 that most places charge. It is leaps and bounds past the Seaclone and Prism designs, which I have used. I would buy again for a fish only or mixed reef under 30 gallons total, or a dedicated reef with no fish up to 55 or 75. |

Thin profile, Quiet operation, Quick Break-in period if you clean it with vinegar first. I had this on an AquaPod 24 and a 55 gal aquarium. It works great for a reef system with little fish bioload. I had 3 small fish in the AquaPod and it was crystal clear. This skimmer did struggle in the 55, but I had a 6" foxface, 4" coral beauty, 4" Sailfin Tang, and a 6line wrasse. I know that is a lot of bioload for the 55, but with 20% weekly waterchanges the skimmer did work. It always pulled a dark green tea.

As with most skimmers, it's capacity is overrated. "Surface Skimmer" is a bit of a joke, but functions well as a snail/fish guard. The output works better if you add another 90* elbow and short straight pipe that lets the effluent bubble at the surface of the aquarium. Also, REMOVE THE FOAM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE OUTPUT CHAMBER.
