Difficult to adjust
Installation and Operation
Initial installation is very easy; minimal assembly, then just hang on the back, fill with water and turn on the power.

Performance vs. Expectations
It does skim protein from the water, however, adjustment is very touchy, and seems to not be stable. Since it is the first protein skimmer I have used, I question my ability to adjust it correctly. Initially, it made so much bubbles and foam that I could not place the collection cup. I read the instructions and they recommended over-feeding a couple of times. That seemed to fix the problem, but the level of the bubbles produced varied constantly (it goes up and down, sometimes reaching the collection cup, but most of the time the bubble level is 3" below the collection cup). Now, about a month in, the opposite problem in occurring. There are not enough bubbles and foam to reach the collection cup, and the protein that precipitates out of the water sticks to the inside of the vertical tube that the bubbles travel up. I've cleaned it several times (used NO soap, and did a final rinse in salt water), and bled the line of air after each of the following 1. removal of the collection cup, 2. adjustment of the apparatus set-up or placement, 3. after turning off the skimmer to reduce water turbulence when feeding corals. Right now, the bubbles are about 3.5" below the level of the collection cup.

Value for money
In the future, I would be more inclined to buy a skimmer that has excellent reputation, and that has been around for a while.

the unit is easy to take apart and clean, with a very basic and straightforward design.

Didn't like
it is difficult to adjust, and I worry that the low level of the bubbles does not effectively remove protein from the water.

Delivered on it's promise
Installation and Operation
The instructions that came with the skimmer were a little skimpy and could have been a little more explicit. However once I got it assembled, setting it up was a breeze and has been performing nicely since I started it up. It began pulling dirt out of the tank almost immediately and has operated flawlessly to date.

Not truly understanding the whole concept of a skimmer, I was surprised to see what it was pulling out of the water. I should have installed this from Day 1 of my saltwater tank - I would have saved myself time & money.
