| Installation and Operation |
This protein skimmer was simple to install. Pretty much plug and play,just had to cut the hose form the pump to skimmer to fit application length.

| Performance vs. Expectations |
Performs as advertised with small tweaks to the pump (Rio 1400) adjustment value for water flow. As well as raising the collection cup to desired level performance.

This skimmer has one of the smallest foot prints I could find seeing how I was limited on space in my sump. Perfect fit, has not failed me yet with regular cleanings.

I found this skimmer to be ok, but not great, it would collect a nice tea colored skim mate no matter where I set the o ring... IMO there just isn't enough rise time for the bubbles to collect the organics as effectively as other skimmers. It's not bad for a hang on skimmer, but I think there are better choices in the same price range. |

This skimmer is nice for sumps without a lot of extra room, the foot print is quite small. A lot of clearance is needed to accommodate the height.
I bought the Urchin Pro with the mag 3 pump and the drain fitting. The drain fitting is a nice mod. It allows the collection cup to remain in place longer. |
