cheap and easy to use... and easy to break
Comments
These are pretty cheap bulkheads that work well enough for most applications. They arent the most sturdy available, but they are commonly found with reef-ready tanks and will work well enough for those instances. They don't cost a lot of money, and the slip joint makes adding stand pipes a breeze.

These are very easy to install and don't require any special tools, however a bulkhead wrench will make installation even easier. The slip fitting on the business end of the bulkhead make adding standpipes (which do not require leak-tight connections) very easy. These are inexpensive and readily available, they should work well for years if they arent manipulated with regularity.

These are not the most robust of bulkheads; schd 80 bulkheads are much less likely to crack and are quite a bit more forgiving than these. If overtightened, these bulkheads are known to crack, in which case they must be replaced. Also, the inside slip fitting is not my preferred method of attaching them, I like a threaded end for the plumbing side of the bulkhead in order to easily remove it should I need to remove the bulkhead. By using a slip on this end, you're going to have to glue the return or drain plumbing in place, so any future changes will require cutting the plumbing and possibly replacing the bulkheads.

Okay, but there are better bulkheads out there.
Comments
I have used several of these and I have to say they have irritated me to the point I will not use them again. They are working fine at this point but after installing one it threaded up half way then did not want to go any more. It somehow got cross threaded half way up after starting and threading fine for half the threads. Considered it my fault until the second one did the same thing. Had to really crank on them to get it tight. I will say once done there where no leaks.

They are cheap to purchase and if you need multiple bulkheads that will be in place for awhile these may be a good choice. They made a good seal and at this point a year later are still working fine.

Average item
Comments
The item could be better. I had to glue in fittings because of the slip/slip ends because they do not become water tight if not glued in. I would go thread/thread if I could do it over.

Good price for a usable bulkhead, I was going for a bargain tank and these help. Other than that they are pretty much just average bulkheads.

If I could have changed 1 thing I would have gone thread/thread instead of slip/slip to eliminate the need of glue to get a watertight bulkhead. Other than that they are fine.

Very loose molding tolerances

Appearance wise, the item looked cheap - it was too flimsy looking. But looks can be fooling....but they were not.

when the pipe was glued into the fitting, it was not near tight enough to make a good solvent weld.

A great bulkhead
General
In my 125 I have 4 of these installed for my CLS. There a bulk head and there is really not much to say about them. I would have used thread/thread if I had it to do over again. Since I glued fittings in I will have to cut them out and throw them away if I ever have a problem. |

Easy to install
Black color
The seal holds tight even with little torque.

Slip/slip I had to glue the fittings in.
I would prefer thread/thread
