Comments works, but follow directions!

Liked about it For those with perpetual cyano issues, this can help. It is not a cure all for lack of flow or poor skimming, but it can help knock down the algae to get things under control. Be sure to follow the directions/dosage carefully, and to do the prescribed water changes. Your skimmer will go mad, so it must go offline, and you'll need to ensure there is enough O2 with an air stone.

Didn't like I don't' like adding extra chemicals, but sometimes it's necessary. Use it sparingly, and only as a last resort, but it does work!

Great Product that delivers what it advertises.

General Chemiclean Red Slime Remover

Use: Removes Cynaobacteria due to excess nitrates and ammonia.

Price: Anywhere between $8-$15. Online seems to offer the best prices but you have to take shipping into consideration as well. Most LFS around me average $11-$12.

Net Product: A whopping 2 grams. That 2 grams will treat up to 300 gallons.

Product Claims:
-Removes disease causing red cyno bacteria (red slime) from live corals (does not say which ones cause we all know the vast amounts of the different types available).
-Oxidizes trapped organic sludge and sediment. (Better water flow might help this out a bit)
-Clarifies aquarium water and promotes ideal enzyme balance. (I think the removal of the cyano as well as the water change make this possible so take it with a grain of salt)

Directions:
-One level scoop per 10 gallons. After 48 hours repeat if needed. (They seem pretty set on this and I would not deviate from it).
-20% water change required after 48 hours. (This is a must in my book)
-Remove carbon, turn off skimmer etc...(Might turn a few people off)
-Recommends to use once a month but I think that is a total overkill. Something is really wrong if you keep having to battle this stuff.

The Down Low:
I had a pretty good outbreak in a fairly new tank and let the guy at the LFS talk me into buying some.

The first day I really did not notice anything other then some of the cyano starting to get a little fuzz on it.

The second day the cyano was starting to lift off the rocks and some pieces had fallen off and got hung up in other places around the tank. It made it super easy to clean off the rock and you could pretty much just grab it out of the tank by hand in small clumps.

This stuff worked for me and overall I was impressed by it. Non of my corals seemed to care and my fish did not show any signs of stress either. After the 48 hour water change the levels in my aquarium were better then before the dose. I am leaning more towards the 20% water change rather then the chemiclean but can see that with a bunch of the cyano gone it could possibly make a difference.

The cyano did not all vanish into mid air but it was reduced and made the stuff that was still in the tank very easy to remove. It was well worth the price, time and effort to get the results.

Liked about it Very easy to use and it delivers. Easy to follow directions and you do not need to be a chemist to use it.

Didn't like The only issue I have with this product is the removal of media and the skimmer.

Works great

General I tried this product on advise from another reefer. If your getting cyano from an initial set up, this is the product for you. If your up and running for any major period of time, then maybe not. You have other issues the need to addressed.

Liked about it Worked first treatment
No major side effects

It does the job

General It is recommended that you do it monthly, I think that this can be stretched out a little further.

Liked about it Within 48 hours it will rid your tank of any slime algae, currently I am on a streak 2/2 for outbreaks

Didn't like 20% water change after 48 hours was kind of a pain. Recommended monthly dosing.

Works Great!

General This product does work great but keep in mind it's just a band aide.
It will remove the red slime but more than likely it will return unless you find and eliminate the underlying cause.

Liked about it Easy to use.
Works fast

Didn't like Cannot run skimmer for days.
