Helpful for wounds

Comments I have used mela-fix in the Koi pond with good results. I have a large female that likes to lay her eggs in tight spots, she usually rubs a few scales off in the process. I add it when she is done laying the eggs. We also had a large predatory bird take a one of our fish and wound another. I added mela-fix to help heal the fish who survived the attack. Within a few days the fish was fine and is still with us today. I have notice some foaming of the water after it was added. I keep some on hand at all time just to be safe. I have not used it in the reef tank yet.

Liked about it Helps heal hurt fish
It is safe for FW and SW fish but, be careful not to over dose

Didn't like No complaints.

As good as advertised for open, unknown ulceration

General I have used this product in the past to treat open ulcerations of unknown origin in my fish utilizing a q-tank. This product was utilized in conjunction with Pimafix and is a "reef-safe" alternative to using copper. I would *not* recommend using this product openly in the display. There is an overall "blue" tint of the water when treating in this manner and the water has a "mentholatum" smell immediately.

After one dose and five days, the fish which were administered this medication showed visible healing and little effects of the previous wound. All fish recovered fully and have, over time, shown no ill effects of either the disease or the treatment. While this medication, to it's own admission, is not a cure-all and according to publication in well-known hobby monthly publications, is a mystery regarding it's active ingredients, it is relatively inexpensive and seems to be a safer alternative to copper. Use at your own risk however.

Liked about it The instructions were fairly forward and easy to administer. The product packaging is clean and easy to understand and not possibly be mistaken for another bottle in the home inventory by accident.

Didn't like Nothing to note at this time.
