There are other magnet cleaners that are stronger and probably better but are much more expensive. Between this and the desire to stay dry and salt free, the mag float is indispensable. Where it really becomes a pain though is the fact that any type of hard particle that gets agitated by cleaning the glass can get stuck up under the cleaner and scratch the glass pretty bad. This is especially the case when cleaning near the sand bed. I have several annoying scratches in my tank now, but I still use the mag float, just with more caution. Great product especially for smaller tanks
