A good tool to have for propagating.

Very useful and good craftsmanship. I think this is a very important instrument to have if you are one, going to be propagating. And two just for the average reef keeper keeping there colonies in check and doing what I call "Preventative Maintenance".

I think there are several benefits to this instrument. One thing I enjoy about this product is the interchangeable Blades. They pop out very easily which is good to keep them clean after each use. i find it is a very handy size for many uses including keeping Corals trimmed but I honestly use it for a number of things reef related. Now I have used many different types of cutting instruments and this seem to be one of the better designed tools as far as comfort and grip are related. All in all a good product.

I did find when using this product that the blades are either in very tight or are somewhat loose. I'm not sure it is the design as much as the blade it's self though. But other than that I cant say much bad about this product. It is made for a direct usage and I think every aspect was taken in to consideration.

Just like the professionals use
Comments
My sister used to work in a dentist office and she gave me a scalpel to use. It was sharp, felt good in the hand, and the blades were replaceable. This scalpel is exactly like it in every way. I figure if it's good enough for dental surgery it's good enough for my soft corals.
I've found that a sharp blade is essential when propagating soft corals as a dull one can do great damage to the tissues which will lengthen the amount of time it takes them to heal which in turn increases the risk of infection.

1. Very sharp.
2. Fits well in the hand making it easier to control the cuts.
3. Blades can be replaced when they get dull so you always have the best edge possible.

1. The blade can sometimes get a little loose but I find a replacement takes care of this.

Perfect soft coral scalpel!
Comments
This scalpel performs exactly as advertised. I needed to get something as my soft corals are beginning to get rather large and this was just the thing. It's very easy to use and the blades cut through soft coral tissue like butter. Perfect for fragging all the soft corals you need to.

I can't think of anything I don't like about it. I guess if I had to think of one thing I only wish they would ship it with more blades. Great little scalpel to add to your coral propogation toolbox.

Cheap and easier to use then a razor blade.
Comments
I ordered these from a amazon store and they included free shipping which was a plus. i got them for under $10 and I am more then satisfied with them. It came with some spare blades as well but after those were gone you can find replacements at a art supply store, local big box store did not carry them and the LFS was overpriced. The things are very sharp and accurate as well as easy to hold. The fit really well in the hand and with the little raised area they have you do not have to worry about them slipping.

Price is inexpensive. Easy to find replacement blades and is pretty heavy so you feel like you have something in your hand. Ten times better then working with just a razor blade.

If you put them away wet you might get a little bit of surface rust. The rust is easily removed.

Perfect for coral fraging
Comments
When fraging corals you will need something sharp and easy to use. This product is exactly that. It is sharp and fits in the hand really well. When fragging soft corals like button poylps, xenia, mushrooms, ect this comes in handy. It is easier to use than a razor blade because of the long handle. This is an esstential for coral fraging
