Perfect lighting set-up for a reef tank
Installation and Operation
This product has been easy to install due to the fact that when it comes in the mail it is already assembled. You do have to assemble the legs which is fairly easy to do. I must have gotten a bad fixture or someone who put mine together was lazy, because when it came in 4 of the 6 bulbs were not in the fixture correctly and 3 of them were broken. One of the LED's was out and I had to push it back in. AND my timer was broken. Unfortunately I did not think to call customer service about it until 2 months or so later with no product registration. The customer service guy was very nice and helpful and sent me a new part with no extra charge which was pretty amazing. Now 3 months later I am still happy with it and it is running great. The stock bulbs are not good, and one of them has already blown out on me after only 2 months so now I just have 5 of the bulbs running.

Performance vs. Expectations
The self-timer feature almost pays for itself. Very quiet fan and the T5's stay so cool, much better than my power compacts I used to run. I got a little worried when I tried putting it on my tank. this is because I have a bowfront, and so the front legs hung over and did not rest on the ends of the frame. Thank goodness the legs are movable down the length or I would not have been able to put it on my tank and had to return it.

This product is great and very heavy duty. The unit comes with individual reflectors, a good quality fan, and a great self-timer all in a very sleek and stylish design.

I had to contact them because mine came in with a bad timer. I did not contact them until 2 months later with no product registration, and the guy I talked to still sent me a replacement timer at no extra cost. That's customer service I was very impressed!

Didn't like
The legs barely fit on my bowfront 36" tank so I keep thinking it will fall off. However it's on securely enough so I think it will be alright.
Came in the mail looked horrible with 3 bulbs broken and an LED popping out of it's hole, made it look very cheap.
Having 6 lamps, I assumed that for the "white" zone 3 bulbs would come on and the "blue" zone the other 3 would come on. Half and half, makes sense to me. However only 2 bulbs come on with the "blue" zone which I do not like.

AquaticLife Six Lamp T5 HO fixture
Installation and Operation
It is a pretty simple product to install. it comes with all the bulbs. just need to put them in according to the directions which are also really simple to read. The mounting legs are easy to put on, just be careful with the supplied hex screws to attach them with, over tighten and you strip out the hex head of the screw. Operations is really easy and if there is anything you can't figure out, its all in the directions. It requires little maintenance other then occasional dusting and blowing out the fans. The acrylic bulb shield does need to be wiped down from time to time from build up if you run an open top.

Performance vs. Expectations
It well exceeded my expectations for performance. I was able to keep all kinds of corals from mushrooms to all kinds of SPS corals. It puts out nice light and you can use any brand T5 bulb to customize your light. On top of being able to support all kinds of corals, it brings out amazing colors in both the corals and your fish and helps accelerate coraline growth really well.

for the price you pay in comparison to what you get, its well worth it. if you were to build this from scratch with retro kits, combos of light strips to get the same number of bulbs, the timers, the lunar LEDs and timers to run it all, it would most likely cost more then what you spend for this canopy all together.

I haven't dealt with them directly, but from people i spoke to before i bought it, reviews ive read on it, they seem to have top notch support

-Easy to set up and install
-awesome light output
-good design and looks awesome sitting above the tank
-Individually contoured reflectors for each bulb
-the list goes on
|
Didn't like
-Screws to mount the legs could be a bit better
-Bulbs are slightly hard to install and twist to lock in due to the individual reflectors
-The base of the mounting legs are wider then the edge of the tank so you can't open a glass canopy. Its also a bit to low with the legs to open the lid fully (suspension mounts for the ceiling will solve that)
-you need to buy the wires and ceiling mounts separate
-Those are quite literally my only cons to this item
