Expensive PC bulb but always fits Coralife fixture featured

Comments The Coralife 65W 21" straight pin power compact bulb is a qualified value. It is certain to work in the Coralife fixture. However it is expensive and the regular replacement (9 to 12 month interval) gets quite costly. The "good news" is that it always fits; the "bad news" is accumulating cash out cost over time. The 10,000K high light intensity is like the midday sun. Combined with actinic wavelengths in another bulb, these PC lights promote coral growth (especially for low and medium demanding corals such as softies, mushrooms, and selected LPS).

Liked about it The Coralife PC bulb is easy to replace. It lights the tank to promote reef conditions. The super daylight white color gives a sharp definition to the reef. These lights produce some heat but the fixture they are used in has adequate fan ventilation to keep it cool enough (for example: fixture can sit directly on eggcrate). Readily available from a variety of TRT sponsors at lower prices (range of $25 to $33) than LPS retail listings (range of $45 to $50).

Didn't like These bulbs are going to cost you over time, replaced often (9-12 months). Recommend trying to locate a less expensive bulb manufacturer (approximately $20) to fit the Coralife fixture so you can replace bulbs without paying this high cost. Always true not just for Coralife, but cannot use just 10,000K to provide all wavelengths for reef community so the other bulbs have to incorporate at least some actinic wavelengths to promote coral algae photosynthesis. I am a conservationist and don't like the mercury and specialized disposals of fluorescents; they are a problem if broken especially if a pregnant woman is involved.

PC 10 k bulb

Comments This product does preform as advertised. However in my personal experince these bulbs tend to have to be replaced more often than other form of lighting.

Liked about it They are very easy to replace.

Compact design

Didn't like In my opinion product is kind of pricy for what you're actually getting

They tend to have to be replace quite often

Nice and bright.....

Comments I have read that PC bulbs start to loose their effectiveness after 6 months. I have had my Coralife fixture for just 9 months now. The old bulbs were still in working condition but I decided to replace them.

Liked about it I like the compact design.
Very easy to replace these bulbs.
They are quite bright. My brother commented that the tank looked "very Hi-Def"

Didn't like I feel that these bulbs are a little expensive.
They do run a little hot. But I think that has little to do with the bulb manufacturer, more the nature of a PC fixture.
