AquaMaxx 14,000K 150W Double Ended Bulb

The AquaMaxx 14000K metal halide bulb offers excellent coloration and good intensity. It is crisp-white with a blue tint. It brings out the fluorescent pigments in corals nicely. Fluorescent supplementation is usually not necessary, but can be used for added intensity and to simulate dawn and dusk. An excellent choice for reef tanks 24" or deeper. on how the different...

OK bulb

Comments These bulbs were on sale so I got a pair to try them. They are a bit of a wierd color. Not blue or white, they have a hint of purple/pink to them. I had the Pheonix bulbs before and these are as bright if not brighter. But the color is really not my favorite, I have them supplemented so they look fine, but defintely are not a stand alone metal halide bulb. I have read the 400w version compairs to the Radium, but sadly the 150w version does not. Not in color, and according to Sanjay's article it has nearly 40% less PAR than the 150w Radium.

Liked about it They are nice and bright. The bulb construction looked good.

Didn't like I don't really like the color. I wish they had more PAR.
