A nice actinic that's not too blue featured

Comments I've used several different brands of bulbs over the years and have learned that they aren't all the same. I've settled on bulbs by UV Lighting (UV or UVL) because they have that great mix of quality and affordability. There are "nicer" bulbs out there on the market, but they also cost much more and in my experience don't give me as much bang for my buck as the cost would indicate.

I started using them when they were recommended to me by someone I consider to be a lighting expert. They used them on their own tank, which I knew to be beautiful, healthy, and full of SPS corals. I let him pick out the color combination for me (which included some 12K UV's) and replaced all six of my bulbs at once in my largest fixture. I was very pleased with the results.

Not only did my corals look nicer in terms of colors expressing themselves brightly, but my corals quickly took on a more healthy appearance.

The bulbs lasted almost a year before I replaced them. UV states they have a life of 4000 hours. I run my lights 12 hours a day, so the math works out just about right. The nice thing was, I noticed less end of life problems (i.e. algal growth, coral darkening etc.) than I did with other bulbs, especially the Coralife I had in it before.

The actinic are nice and blue, and make colors stand out, but don't wash everything in an unnatural blue hue.

Liked about it 1. Affordable.
2. Long lasting.
3. Not overpowering.
4. Solid packaging with Styrofoam inserts that cradle the bulbs.

Didn't like 1. Honestly too many choices in terms of bulb type from UV lighting. They use names for them that are similar and a bit confusing.

Great Buy!

Comments I bought 2 of these to replace my daylight T5s because I wanted more blue in my tank. I really like the look of only the actinic light in the evening. I got a different color spectrum than I already had to give my corals more variety. These are a little bit more crisp of a blue color than the Coral Life bulbs (I got to see them side by side at the store). The corals all look great under the actinic and seem to enjoy having the new bulbs. I like that UV Lighting had a couple different light spectrums to choose from and I will definitely be getting more of their bulbs when I need to replace my other two T5s.

Liked about it I like the crispness of the light.
The option of different spectrums is very nice to have.
Better quality than other brands.

Didn't like A little bit higher priced than other brands, but I feel that they are better quality.
